Default FAO Bernie and perhaps others - MT75 4x4 ideas

I have been trying to learn stuff about gearboxes lately and as such have some questions - quite possibly stupid ones but hopefully not - for you

1/ Is there anything that can be done to vastly speed up the shift time of the standard box ?

2/ Does the MT75 use cone type synchro's and can these be removed/machined off to make it a dog box ?

3/ I have seen a company that makes a sequential shift lever attachment for H-pattern boxes which they claim shifts 4x faster than without it Is this do-able on the MT75 and worthwhile ?

4/ Does a Fixit gearkit being fitted have any impact on the answers to the above ?

Not asking for you to divulge trade secrets although I wouldn't mind if you did of course

Thanks in advance

Matt

Thanks

I'm guessing they're quite tricky too

Or maybe just so stupid as to not warrant a reply

not stupid, but i'll giv it a go

no, not that i've ever heard of, even using a quick shift, it's the fact that the boxes ratios are a bit poo that means it takes longer to change fron 1st to 2nd that it does to use up all of 1st gear
with a quick shift, you just trash the syncro's quicker is what i've found
but the raldes quick shift kuncle is a great way to make that shift better

how do you mean?
the syncro's are bilt in to the gear cog itself, i know what you mean but i don't think it's possible, although i'm sure there is a way to do it IF you could find the right dog engagement bit to fit onto the place of the normal syncro ring

can't say i've ever heard of such a thing, how would it work?

you'd need to wait for one of the bernie/rainman peeps to answer that one
