I was out in the RX7, having plumbed in a temporary boost guage through the window and sat my girlfriend in the passenger seat armed with a video camera to catch the boost guage and RPM needle so that I could investigate the sequential turbos and see if all was right. After a few 'girl trying to operate technical equipment' malfunctions we reached a NSL road with a straight section and I put my foot to the floor in third gear.

Whilst concentrating on the road ahead and also checking that she hadn't lost interest and started doing her makeup in the mirror I noticed a couple of flourencent jackets standing at the side of the road. Being towards the top end of third I didn't realise what they were until I shot past.

Image the scene, 3 policemen and one of those signs that flashes up your speed next to their fully marked police car, proudly standing back and looking at the screen admiring their handywork having got the kit working, only for it to suddenly flash up 98mph in a 60 limit

They turned round and I made a sharp exit but there was only one problem...




She didn't press the bloody record button so I still have no video and nearly no license
