Just thought a few people may like this info..
" Aug 2006 - Emap Radio Revamps and Expands its Kiss FM Radio Network
Emap Radio is expanding its Kiss FM radio network across the south-west and east of England as part of a revamp of the iconic dance music station.
From 06/09/06 Vibe 101 in Bristol and Vibe FM in East Anglia will become Kiss. The rebranding from Vibe to Kiss will coincide with a relaunch of the London-based Kiss 100 service with a refreshed, re-invigorated sound; new talent and a new logo and station identity.
The former Vibe stations, which Emap bought in 2005 as part of its acquisition of Scottish Radio Holdings, will retain local breakfast and drivetime shows, whilst benefiting from new and greater access to superstar DJ talent that Kiss can provide.
The move will increase the analogue footprint of Kiss to nearly 15 million adults, providing a vastly increased FM analogue distribution, complemented by Kiss’ national digital service on DAB, Freeview, cable & satellite.
Bill Griffin, MD of the new Kiss network, said: “Kiss is one of the biggest youth media brands in the UK and is consistently the number one station for 15-34s in London.
“We wanted to build on Kiss’ incredible heritage whilst updating and expanding the distribution, content and marketing for 2006 and beyond.
“To recognise Kiss’ status as a national media brand, we are building on the current ‘young, fun London’ ethos with a new philosophy - ‘first to move’. We’ll also be putting a fresh emphasis on the multi-platform distribution of Kiss, truly embracing Kiss TV and the Kiss website in the ‘Total Kiss’ world.”
From 06/09/06 Kiss 100 in London will boast new weekday shows and a new sound to its Friday and Saturday nights. Kiss 101 (the former Vibe 101 in Bristol) and Kiss 105-108 (formerly Vibe in East Anglia) will enjoy the best of London’s new line-up with syndicated shows at the weekends as well as benefiting from new local shows throughout the daytime schedule.
The new rejuvenated Kiss will put a fresh emphasis on the multi-platform nature of the brand, with the new look and sound being carried across the Kiss TV, mobile, digital radio and website platforms and a fresh emphasis on Kiss-branded CDs and events.
The Kiss website is undergoing a major relaunch to offer a series of new channels, encompassing music, clubbing, entertainment and user generated content.
A new domain name www.totalkiss.com will link all touchpoints of the Kiss brand.
Andy Roberts, in his new role as group programme director of the expanded Kiss network, has been working to refresh the sound of the station.
He said: “It’s important that Kiss constantly evolves. It must never stand still either musically or editorially and it must not be afraid to take risks. More and more technology will play a huge role in how people consume us but at the core of this we must continue to create engaging programming that people can use and interact with.
“Since coming back to Kiss in May I’ve already refreshed the music policy providing a more optimistic and upbeat promise to the listener along with a new selection of presenters and specialist DJ’s to come.
“This is again a great time for a new Kiss and for new listeners to discover Kiss from our new Network of stations.”
Kurt Edwards, Kiss commercial director, said the Kiss sales team would now be looking for strategic partners with whom to build longterm relationships.
He said: “The new Kiss Radio Network offers youth advertisers the chance to talk to 2.4 million young adults every week - and with over 6 million adults engaging with the Kiss brand every month through all its platforms, Kiss is a truly multi-platform youth offering, standing head and shoulders above the rest in a cluttered media market.
“With our market leading insight we will deliver bespoke solutions to talk to this audience in their language whenever, wherever and however they want.”
A new station logo has been designed by Odd to capture the new spirit of Kiss. The creative will carry through to an above the line marketing campaign later in the year.

i like listening to kiss and vibe. vibe seems a bit more commercial than kiss so they only play well known records but kiss tends to play more of a selection. plus kiss doesnt have the news and adverts as often which is good. will be nice to be able to pick kiss up properly in essex
