i know only 1038 were made, but i thought they were all D-plates. Were there any E's, as there's one on ebay? Its just made me think, what with D-plate S1s and J-plate S2's.

Yes there were quite a few on E Plates. Capri Club International will tell you the exact numbers.

there's 3 E plate's up in the shetland's.. one has done a grand total of 9K miles.. the original owner still has it..
