hi all

my escort s2 is running 240bhp on a 16c.v.h and has started making a rattle at the head. the engine is running lean and is misfiring at 4000rpm any ideas?
on tick over its reving at 500rpm and i know that aint right, any help would be apriated.

not sure where that is. i bought it in may from a guy in surrey.

the 'rattle' you say about, its not det is it

its a tapity noise but ive took the rocker cover off and it seems o.k the oil pressure gauge reads o.k. its there all the time and gets louder and faster with the engine reving.

im not sure what it is maybe a worn cam the 1 thats in it is a piper 285 do they ware a lot?

better posting in the RS turbo room. You need to give more detail. Vary from hot to cold? On boost off boost? How does the car drive?

its the first time ive been that far south. his name was jan and stayed in a place called morden in surrey.

the car is misfiring at boost around 3500-4000rpm and just seems to get strangled.
the temp is o.k and doesnt seem to heat up anymore than normal,there is not any burning smells either. the car drives fine exept for the misfire and the rattle as it feels like the car is going to stall when at idle when warm.

my RST did this......it was fine when cold but when hot it rattled like there was no oil at the top end and guess what.....there wasnt......oil pressure was so low that it starved the top end completly so it was rebuild time.

but you say your oil pressure is ok so not sure......worn followers without regular oil changes can rattle like mad

its def coming from the top end and does feel like that but there is plenty oil. when i changed the oil it had not been done in 2yrs it was black.

could this affect the fuel mixture?
