Best thing,does he know who they are?Where they live? If so he wants to go round one of they're houses(or just somewhere they'll be on they're own) and do his best to kick the shit outta him!And make sure he knows that if he gets anymore trouble ur boy will be back to pay him another visit and each and everyone of his cowardly mates,if it needs it!

If the boy cant fight he cant fight, so absolutely no point people on here giving it the biggun saying how he should storm round and kick arse. 
Some people dont have the natural aggression or confidence, and they have to play the game by different rules to us who have it and use intelligence and cunning to win through rather than brute force and ignorance.
Pepper spray is an option id say, but ONLY if he has the guts to use it Gus, if not, hes going to end up having it used on him by the assailants, and then god knows what would happen once the attack becomes revenge instead of just a giggle.
VERY LITTLE in life worse than having your children bullied, i really feel for you pal.

my advice to you just go to plod before it turns out to be more serious than whats happening now ie a murder inquery spl! see/hear it happening more and more these days as alot of youths 2day DONT give a fuck about killing people as their acting out being wannabe gangsters

What kind of people are up at that hour to jump someone though, are they coming in from a night out. Anyone I have ever heard of being jumped has always been evenings. Maybe these lads all work together and are the way also in which case have them followed.

No, highly illegal.. I think they come under the same laws as firearms. So it's fairly serious if you get nicked with one.
If this kid sees these lads EVERY day though there's nothing he can do.
Best advice is either call the police. If he's actually being physically hurt then the offence is pretty serious. Or just go a different way to work.

Hair spray in the eyes is just as effective in the short term as pepper spray. Yeah sure it doesn't take thier breath away like CS but it still buys you enough time to do a runner.
The pocket sized lynx deoderant sprays are also quite effective. Anything with alcohol type products in the ingredients will sting like fuck for a minute and make them cry like poofs.
Perfectly innocent if you get stop and searched by the police as well!!

so what makes people think that the kid is going to have the drive to pull out a weapon and use it ???
as a father you have three options
A) toughen the kid up to fight
B) get the police involved to resolve the issue
C) go and kick the granny out of them yourself
weapons aren't needed.... they will only cause a severe nicking especially when one of these yobs grasses you up for gassing him

BUY A MINI MAGLITE AND ATTACH HIS KEYS TO IT. MAKES AN AWESOME FLAIL AND WOULD HURT LIKE FUCK AND AS LONG AS YOU DONT USE A 6 CELL MAGLITE WILL FIT IN HIS POCKET .

i went with him this morning and funnily enough nothing happend
police have been notified, they have been watching them for a while (doing a great job a) they know who they are but would not tell me
which is a bit unfair
so we shall see what happens, me lad says he aint too worried about them as he is a fast runner

If there's 5 of them there's not a lot of point trying to fight them..could he ride a bike to work? If nothing else..would get him there a bit quicker thus not giving them so much chance?
Hope this gets sorted soon anyway..sad to see also that more and more people feel so insecure about their safety they have to consider carrying illegal weapons for self defence...
Get him driving so he doesn't have to walk
