Default any ambulance paramedics on here ???

or hospital staff, wanna know something

just wondering if amublances HAVE to have a paramedic on board or can they just have first aid qualified people ect

im asking for a very personal reason and i was under the impression atleast ONE had to be fully qualified

please no piss taking on this thread as a close person to me died due to there not being a paramedic on board,,, and its cause they wasnt trained to use the equipment they had on board

so just wondering the fact here

i fucking hate using google as i always get 9 million pages and what ever you tyoe they send you loads of random ebay links aswell as price comparison sites

this site has alot of educated people and find its easier to discuss a situation like this with people in the know

not like i feel anything that happens will change whats happened,,,,,,, just be nice to discover that either the laws should be changed or someone should be held acountable that a 15 year old child died due to a manager tryin to reach is bonus at the end of the year

btw im not bitter at any of this,,,,,,,, just wanna know whats what

thats what i thought

the reason is the ones on board couldnt use the machine to help assit her epileptic fit and she died of cardiac arrest on route to hospital

i COULD moan about how it took them 45 mins to travel 15mins normal driving to her,,,,,,, but i understand theres already moans about this and if we was told that they could take upto a hour then tbh his mum would have called her son to drive over and take her there ,,,,,,,, but no fooker could guess that would happen,,,,,,,,,, just would have been nice if they sent anyone who could use the toys that helped rather than 3 people who can wrap a bandage

btw this aint a dig any any staff even the ones that arrived as they are just repsonding to a call and working hard like the always have too

even hearing about a mate who made a bad spur of the moment reflex and deck a bloke who anoyed him infront of 2 old bill and he got nicked for it,,,,,,,,,, talk about bad luck

its a shitty job on the basis that you never get real thanks when you save someones life as the doctor then takes over and gets all the praise but when things like this happen you then get blaimed

Plus i feel like im doing something more to help by starting off for free and in my spare time

If there would be anybody to blame at all mate, it would be managers, the people that have no idea as we're (the medical staff) being screwed
at the mo, whilst they drive around in there BMW's and the like, working all hours, doing things only doctors should do, that's the piss.

Id expect they were trying to save costs as the NHS is in such a state at the mo, hospitals making redundances, even closing in the near future i bet, then what will happen???!!

F@@kin labour

exactly, making us coup without the staff we need, then mistakes happen, the news gets involved then the NHS is shite again

fair point

but surely the bad press leads to a good thing ??

i know its crap at first but it must go better if enough complaits go forward

cause if it is the case that they should have had 1 paramedic on board and fook all happens im sure we will be asking for the person responsible

My brother and sister in law are both paramedics, they said that they doesn't have to be a paramedic on board 2 technicians can man an ambulance, the AIM is for at least every ambulance to have a paramedic but at the moment that is not the case.
this applies to the north east ambulance trust not sure of other area's of the uk.

I've stated my position about attacks on the NHS before:

Take it up with the politicians, the managers or the people who keep votong for lower taxes instead of decent public services. Often the same ones who reckon they are entitled to everything but have no responsibilities.

Don't even think about moaning at the folk doing their best in difficult circumstances. I know I'd rather have a technician or a first aider turn up than no-one at all, but even having no-one turn up would be preferable to a local councillor, MP or hospital manager.

And I am truly sorry for the loss of a young life. Please don't misunderstand me.

My girlfriend (shes 15) is in the St Johns Ambulance, she says it has given her alot more convidence in helping people in situations. There is also a very good team spirit within the 'club'. Last year her and her family were the first at an accident and she used he training to stop a young girl falling into a coma until the paramedics arrived some time later. Once in hospital the girl did fall into a coma, but recovered a few days later.
she was pleased when the girls uncle phoned her and thanked her for helping the girl out, and the doctors said the girl could have died if it wasnt for her.
