Default Removing sticker residue from plastic?

Mr Nagisakumitsodubongo had put some carbon fibre look sticker stuff all over the interior of my RX7 After a satisfying session ripping it all off it has left a thick, mega strong dull sticky layer over the surface (not the big thick lumps type more of a thin fogging over the entire surface).

Whereas white spirit removed the rest of the glue, it won't touch this stuff - even with a scourer! I the thought i'd give nail varnish remover a try, which with a lot of scrubbing does get it off very slowly leaving the nice shiny plastic (used an entire kitchen roll to do a tiny area) but I think it has eaten some of the plastic too

Please please please help me get the full enjoyment out of my cheap Japanese plastics!

Do not put tar and glue remover on plastics as it will take the colour away.
I use some stuff called super polish (aerosol polish) which i spray on and leave to soften the glue.
Should be able to find somthing similar at a motor factors.

Try some petrol. I use that to get sticker marks off glass and paintwork, so should work on plastic.
