Cool. I was there last yr. Me and a mate organised a dance night there to show people how real DJ's perform using decks & vinyl instead of the tossy bop cd R&B/ pop "DJs".
Had a few people turn up, but one of the Sqns was in the gulf so not that many people about at the time.

Aah. Well there's worse jobs to do in the RAF 
Think it's quite busy there due to the Harrier pulse line work repairs giving you jobs constantly, but there always used to be plenty of painters around, so the workload might not be too bad.
We used to send around 20 panels every two weeks for repaint, plus all the carbon panels the composite bay sent
I'm sure you'll be fine tho mate
Accomodation is pretty poor if you live in, but nothing worse than most places
