How good is it to be in an IT Role now a days?
Currently I work with telecoms. However not just your average portable home phone.
I install complete systems for multimillion pound customers. Including queing systems VoIP systems and the like.
I went for an interview the other day for South Cambs Council and have got the job to support there network and users. However the directors of my current job called me at home today (Im off on holiday) and stated they didnt want me leaving and mentioned a better renumeration package.
Now im in a bit of a dilema.
My ears pricked up with the thought of the cash. But I really want to work in IT.
Is IT still a rewarding role to be in??

ive seemed to have always done alright out of it, most things are going computerised now so theres always going to be the demand out there... Bit like a hairdresser, everyone (or most) get their hair cut!!

Depends on the role in IT, im in network comms support and spend lots of time travelling between sites round the uk. Moneys good, hours are shit
I cant decide wether to get out of the IT game and try something new after 8 years of supporting wanker users.
Currently questioning my sanity in a departures lounge in glasgow.

Depends what you want mate. It pays decent money but there's a lot of crap that goes with it, and no-one could call it an exciting profession. Or am I just bitter and twisted after having been in it a long time. It pays for my toys I suppose.
