Default Carrying turbocharger in hand luggage on a plane?

Has anyone on here every carried a turbocharger as hand luggage on an plane before?

A mate of mine is going abroad and I am thinking of getting him to bring back my new turbo.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks - Sunny.

They will class it as a "tool or item that may be used to endanger life"

I had a similar problem when bringing a load of cheep air-tools back from the states, had to put all my luggage in the cargo area on the plane due to the amount of toolage

you best and safest bet, is to phone the airline and ask!, tho id give your mate some bubble wrap etc to put in his luggage, to take incase he needs to pack it!

gotta say my mum boarded a plane last year, and sat there the entire journey, doing her cross stitch with needles and scissors there and back, only realised it when seeing something on TV weeks later

worse still you still get given and can take on board cans of drink , when these are ripped open, they can make a very nasty mess of someones throat

Why in your hand luggage????
I was over in the states about 3 months ago and a mate of mine took back 3 pellet guns that were made of metal, looked the real deal, they were in his bags, never got stopped at all. Fucked if i'd have done that though.

Should be fine.. customs may be a problem if it looks like you've bought it in America.. if you take it out of any packaging and wrap it in something old, then you can say your cousin in America gave it to you..
