You may be lucky if you emphasize how much you need your license for work etc!

I'm confused- how does racing a cossie = getting done for no insurance???

Are you saying the car you were driving had no insurance- or you wern't insured when driving it AND you were caught racing a cossie.

In which case- maybe you shouldn't have been doing it????

I think he means the insurance he has says it doesnt cover "racing or time trials" and was thefore void at the time of the race

Jake

Cars are covered on insurance under certain conditions.

Racing, pacemaking, time trials, rallying etc all give cause for them to be classed as having no insurance if caught on a public road.

- or as chip said

PMSL- in which case thats quite comical that the police are trying that one...

If the evidence is shit you will be able to plea it down to speeding.. if its not.. best lube up.

i got done for this in october 2001 - was originally charged with dangerous driving which is a min of 1 year ban.

My brief got it down to careless driving which is a CD10 - driving without due care and attention. Ending up getting 200 quid fine, 0 points and banned for 42 days

My solicitor was fucking fit too - should have take n a pic of her

Right well heres the thing- in my youth ( oh erm I am still young) I got caught street racing in a well known street racing spot.

I had them try me for dangerous driving- namely racing on a public highway and speeding ( no shit)
No mention of insurance etc- as I obviously was insured in the sense I had insurance for the vehicle.

But I know what you mean as my policy excludes these things too..

But surely to do you for no insurance if you were racing they would have to prove you were racing??? and not just driving quickly in close ??? proximity to another vehicle?

I was getting done for "street racing" or promoting a "time trial" how stoopid does that sound

Up to court for racing a motorbike in my fezzy turbo , i have a company car and need so 100% for my work , i think this is the only reason i got off , because they dont want to put another guy on the dole

Hope its okk

Can't see how they can prove you were racing. Unless you had a scantily dressed chick shouting go and at the end another chick waving a chequered flag shouting winner!!

Unlikely to ban you if you need a vehicle/licence for work

Bullshit! How do you think other people get banned for racing? You think all these people had starters? PMSL! I got banend for racing(MS50) and i certainly never had a starter lol
And saying he's unlikely to get banned? I wouldn't be so sure! If people so desperately need their vehicles to work etc then they should fucking behave on the rd! Why should the courts be lenient?

one of 2 things really, either

A. Dont speed, dont drive like a knobber

B. Dont get caught

i usually chose option 2, but if they sneaky fukkers they will get you.

in what circumstances were you caught? coppers fllowed and nailed on the blues?

as for racing, it dont say anything in the insurance policies about qualifying lol

"I wasnt racing officer, i was qualifying" ought to do the trick lol

As others have said, if the prospect of losing your license is so bad, why take the risks?

I got done for Motor Racing on the Highway, they love to convict for this as its so rare and harshly penalised too. So, think yourself lucky if they are only getting you for Driving without due care.

I got a 12 month ban.

LOL. When they convicted me, I really, honestly don't think they realised how serious the offence is, so when the Clerk told them that Motor Racing on the Highway carries an obligatory 12 month ban, I watched the shock on their faces.

As a consequence, I got the minimum fine, £100.

One thing though, insurance is tough afterwards. More for the fact that no-one reall recognises the MS50 offence code!

HAVE YOU ADMITTED RACING THE OTHER CAR YET?

If not, they cant possibly do you for that IMHO if you completely deny it, not without them even knowing what the other car was.

good luck mate, if you can prove you are needed at work ect they may be linient,,,,,,,,,,, but dont expect it as my missus got done for a similer offence and the summons had the wrong name of the street on and she said she dont think she was driving and gave mine and another name too as possible people and they STILL done her,,,,,,,,,,, they never hanned her how ever for the point that SHE DONT HAVE A LICENCE

but in reality she should have had it lobbed out of court but it wasnt and the fine wasnt tha fair either consdering i never had a job at the time ( fine was 130quid i think or around there,,,,,,, cant remember cause we never paid it due to us not working and they aint asked since )
