Default FAO phil or other GPS PDA 'experts'

right... after your excellent advice on which PDA to get etc etc last time...

erm I went and bought a HP 2210!! (lol the spec was better than the DELLs for same price and it takes compact flash)

i fancy getting the SAT Nav stuff for it - but not sure where to start.
I think I want tomtom 3 (sister boyfriend has it and looks smart)

well I want a portable system - not just car... seen some bluetooth ones but not sure if they any good?

whats the deal on prices etc?

(i've seen bluetooth receivers sold separate on ebay £70-80ish)
but is it erm possible to get the software separate or is that a gamble?

any help and pointers greatly appreciated!

so if I just buy a bluetooth GPS receiver off ebay for example.. and then get the software... im up and running???

sis BF has the version 3 one I think.... it has like a birds eye map so you can see where the bends and junctions are coming up etc... looks smart and it has a live speed reading in MPH! not sure how accurate it is but I thought it was well smart!

Our company sells one. Comes with bluetooth reciever and software called Destinator. It's an ASUS one. Software looked pretty good when I set it up for someone as a favour.

ive got an hp2210 witth tomtom 3 & a cf GPS card, i didnt go for the bluetooth one in the end, past exp with bluetooth is its more trouble than its worth establishing a reliable bluetooth connection then the gps connection too, plus im fairly certain that you need to charge the bluetooth gps receveiver independently, i got my card of ebay with tomtom software & it was easy to install mate.
theres a guy on ebay his id is undercutter_uk i got all my gear of him for 390 in the end, with the 2210 with 256 card, gps receiver cf card, tomtom3, car holder, charger & in car aeriel which you plug into the top of the gps card for more juice onthe move but i dont ever use it as the flash card is excellent
cheers

cheers mate ill have a look for him on ebay.

ive already got the PDA so it kind of restricts the ebay options that are there.
the Cf GPS card does it plug straight in the top and is then portable?

I did like the sound of the bluetooth one - the tom tom receiver is only same size as my nokia 6220 so could easily manage that. but as you say im bit concerned over it being bluetooth rather than hard wired to it?

ill have a look at that other thing in my break jon, was after the tomtom stuff really though.

you can download the speed stuff from here mate & overlay it to you POI files on tomtom (points of interest)

http://poiplace.oabsoftware.nl/index.php

the ones on ebay normally are just a link to a site where you download from do som digging & youll get it free

with the 2210 you just pull of plastic cap on the top & slot your cf card in & it is fully portable, i use it a lot when im walking to meetings in central london from the tube & can be bothere to look in an a-z

these are interesting/useful links too,
