Nice motors, dont take too much notice of clarkson, he says stuff to be sensational and its only loosely based on fact.
Fair enough he has a point that as a trackday toy its not ideal, but in reality on the road the modern vectra's actually handle more than adequetly for most people.

I didnt chose the Astra as i have to take clients out in it and i dont think they would be too impressed crammed in the back !! and the Holden loses mega money in depreciation, although i know the Vectra wont be great !!
As much as i love Evos, it wouldnt make sense for me owning two thirsty cars, the Cossie is bad enough....
I went for the Vectra as i wanted a new company car, my current Vectra has been superb and i dont drive it like a diesel trust me !
It will not be used as a track car etc, it will just be mainly for work which means me commuting to Nurnberg, Dusseldorf, Konstanz and Milan and the occasional trip out if i have 4+ people in my car, other than that the Cossie comes out to play
Cheers guys, good or bad, i don't care

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Like I said, it's a nice enough place to spend the time, and my 3.0 Elite was surprisingly quick (quick enough to smash two alloys, killing the tyres and the front TCA when I went over a kerbstone in the dark!!!)
Since then I've had 2.2 petrol, 2.2 diesel and a couple of 1.9 CDTI 150s. I've kind of settled on the SRi as the best (for me) compromise between toys/cost/performance and am currently in a 1.9 CDTI SRi estate.
For the kind of driving you want it to do it will be fine, with plenty of power for some fun along the way and it will handle well enough for real-world driving. (I'm not sure I'd want the BiK bill for it as a company car, though!)

He slated the Astra VXR as well but that set a decent-ish time - he doesn't like Vauxhalls at all - shouldn't let it worry you - it got a decent write-up in EVO mag - just depends on who is reviewing it.
