yes its a common problem mate. i had it in my 2nd cossie. just get it welded up and it'll be fine. i highly recommend cutting out the bit that i guessed was to dampen the vibrations. its maybe an inch long and thicker than the stick. this gives you a feel like a short shift and it is far more positive IMO! cut it out and weld it up. sorted!

nooooooooooo

never shorten a 2wd cossie gear lever!!!

you can knacker the syncro's!!!!

i could change gear faster than they could on my old cossie..and that was with a standard lever!!

I welded mine up when it snapped simply cos i couldn't wait for a new one.
To be honest it felt better after that. Stiffer and more positive.

You will have to weld it as they are not available from Fords anymore, I was lucky when mine snapped posted it up on passionford and Martin Hadland had one going spare which I brought

When you weld it, try and do something to keep the heat away from the rubber damper, otherwise it melts and allows the gear-lever to move around due to the slack inside....

If you remove it, it vibrates like a bastard .
