Default Can someone tell me the size of this bolt please

Middle one holding the lot on

Need to get a socket big enough for it as I think it might need nipping up.

Think it might be about 30mm, but largest socket I have is 27mm and I want to go and buy the right one

Cheers

30mm

Altho some can be 32mm

buy both and save yourself 2 trips

and make sure you get 6 sided sockets too, less likely to slip off

do you actually know what you're doing??

When you say 'holding the lot on', do you realise what that nut is?

and why do you think it might need 'nipping up'? Have you torqued it? Do you know the torque, and do you know you'll need a new nut if you turn it?

As said, need a new hub nut mate. Not one of those things you can go and play around with

a trick is to remove the other side aswell and swap them over.... 9 times out of ten when you re-torque them the tab is on the other side so you can use them twice!!!

It's a 30mm nut, as I'm replacing one of my hubs, and both wheel bearings on both sides. You'll need a nice big torque wrench as this gets tightend to about 235nm. Look in the Escort section entitled wheel wobble.

One I bought to do the job goes to 450nm

do u mean the part that u hit the "tab" back down

yes it is a bit sheared

so i need to swap it with the other side to make sure i get a good "wedge" so to speak?

Yeah swap em over in the short term. I would personally get some new nuts. Its much safer in the long run. you don't want one of them working loose

nah its sorted, it aint coming off anyway

prolly wont be able to change it either PMSL

nah will be ok, but I think i might have to change wheel bearings on drivers side in near future, so will get 2 new ones from Ford.

it was a 30mm, and it was super tight, so its all good.

the hub nuts are usually FT

that means fucking tight

i once lifted my escort off the fooking axle stand before the torque wrench went "click"
