think both can run 750CC without any hardwaremods.

p8 can run a coilpack with the correct board

and l8 can run a coilpack with a secs or PB labs board i believe

Both run the injectors without modifications. They both need a live map and ideally off boost closed loop fuel control (Lambda).

P8 can run coilpack without modifications but needs software changes and obviously the coil pack and wiring.

L8 needs the coil pack driver board and then the coil pack and wiring.

For costs, speak to Stu at MSD.

Use a P8 Sean,

Then you have all the extras at your fingure tips.

Or speak to RPlabs. He can mod a L8 to run a coilpack, ALS, 8 injectors, Air injectors etc..etc...

Price works out the same for either a P8 with board to run coil pack.
Or mods to a L8 from RPlabs.

Just to correct that, the P8 doesnt need a board to run coilpacks.
The rest of teh info in this topic is accurate though.

Yes i know Stu. But the person who maps Sean's car will want a board inside. Also Sean will want extras that is available using the Pectel board in a P8 as i know he loves gadgets.

To be able to run a coil pack without a board requires lots of time from the mapper which costs more money than fitting a pectel board.

For this reason fit a Pectel board and pay fook all for mapping

Sorry Jano, your not quite up to speed on this occasion.
The P8 board does'nt add any extra features to the ecu mate, im unsure why you would think it does?

As for teh lots of extra time from the mapper. changing a decimal value from 09 to 33 doesnt exactly take a lot of time does it? In fact, i will lay you a nice bet on teh fact i could do it faster than you can fit and secure a board properly into a P8.

Will you be able to make the pectel/secs monitor and datalog work on his motor without the board?

Didnt miss it pal, just pointing out that what you said was incorrect, there is no mapping needed at all to enable coilpacks, and the board does NOT add any extra functionality to the P8.

Varies too much to quote. Road or brunters for starters?
Coilpacks dont cost any extra to implement at all. Closed loop is also a standard feature on P8 so is another cost free feature of P8.

ALS mapping costs extra depending on how much work is required and how extreme you require it to be.

Biggest problem with P8 is its bloody unreliable. Had more P8 failures than all the L series ECU's put together. In fact, probably 10x more.
