the thing with both these companies turning away customers, and waiting lists, is that there is only 2 of them, and they are in high demand. Imo, it's who ur closest to.

I would be perfectly happy to trust either Stu or Karl with absolutely any car.

Both VERY clever blokes by any standards and both have many many very satisfied customers.

You are onto a winner whichever you choose

Thats an odd thing to say seeing as Mike R's Escort was mapped by Ahmed and has done 30,000+ trouble free miles.

IMO i have used the best 2 tuners in the country. Mark built my engine and Stu (MSD) provided the chip for Mark to set-up.

Karl also has a good rep and makes cars go fast, so whoever you choose out of the 2 you wont be dis-appointed

Probably the first non-biased opinion on this thread, and you've answered it properly!

Just remember some cars are complete nails and the owners expect a miricle out off the tuners for peanuts

can't believe any tuner would take a car out without a full going over prior to mapping.

Pretty much the service I got with NMS I live in the Midlands so close to Cov, sent a PM, sent an email, tried to call a few times no response. Obviously very busy and he sounds a clever guy who'd I'd have liked to work on my RS.

With Stu it was phonecall, booked car in although it was a good few week wait (no complaints here of course).

Turned up

Work carried out, (faults disgnosed that sooo many places had missed!! )

Paid the money

Went home happy.

Top service all the way through, bet NMS is a lot better now though with the new garage etc but MSD for me just because how professional Stu is.

Only advice I would add is that once you have decided stick to the one and take their advice on what to change or improve on your car, as different tuners sometimes have differing methods to reach the same goal and sometimes mixing and matching different specs means you don't end up wth what you wanted, I used NMS had a gunship, Karl advised on improvements, I have now done most of them and when my engine has been run in I will go back to him to get the map tweaked and I should end up with what I wanted from the beginning. But I would say either one will give you a good service. You just need to decide for yourself.
Good luck.

Ive used both Karl & Stu & they are both very good at what they do.

Best bet is too call both tuners and see what they can offer.

Best advice i can give you is to call us both, and make teh decision based on who you "feel" most comfortable with pal.

Tuners arent really like normal garages, well, they shouldnt be, as your requiring a more personal service from us, you want us to turn your car into something that YOU want to drive, something that performs the way that YOU want it to perform, and at a price that YOU can afford. You also want someone who will tell you like it is, if the cars a shed its a shed, we dont expect you to have driven 5000 cosworths to know the difference between good and bad and we dont expect you to know a good turbo from a bad one, but we are happy to explain to you in detail why we are doing or not doing as agreed with your car... Its all personal and based around you and your car.

Im happy with the way i do things and the way i tune cars, im happy with my own level of knowledge and the way i deal with people. (Bar my old grumpy self, version 1.0. I am now on version 1.2A and hes far more pleasant... )

I have made many many friends along the way in this tuning game, and those friends have in the main remained customerts throughout, and thats something i am proud of. I am slo pretty sure that Karl will come along and say almost exactly what ive just said... neither of us will intentionally hurt your car, your engine, or even your gearbox, regardless of what others may have you believe.

Which brings me quite neatly to Le Cock;

I come in from a great night at the movies watching Superman with my daughter, only to find you slagging me off again, as always, totally unprovoked with no input from myself, or even anyone slagging of your chosen tuner. What a sad loser you really are Steve.

As for you only using tuners who have had no gearboxes or engines fail whilst mapping, ive had ZERO engines fail when mapping, and only one box, and i know for a fact that Karl has had at least one box, so you best go and find another totally different tuner hadnt you? Fooking sad idiot.

Oh and guess what people....
Dingy will now come along and slag me off over a totally unrelated to tuning or MSD argument we had in Germany over a few forum members and the Internet, almost a year ago. Just the same as he always does whenever he has nothing to back up his slanderous comments... Yawn...

What is your problem Dingy? Really, be honest now? Why do you have to lower the tone every single time?

You are making slanderous comments about a reputable company, i would be very carefull. I know if i was Stu & Kenny and had spent the last 10 years building up a reputation in the tuning industry i would be very annoyed if some TWAT started uneducated rumours about my company, i personally would be seeking the advise of a solicitor.

There is absolutely no need for the utter shit you spout, so do the majority of us a favour and fuck off, i have never come across such an irritating, shit stirring wanker in all my life. All you do lately is cause aggrovation on this site and it's about time it stopped.

You really don't do Karl any favours atall, infact you bring him bad publicity if anything. Maybe you should consider how it looks to other people when your flying the flag for NMS whilst slagging off every other tuner in the industry. Trust me it's not a good look!

You wanted a reaction and you got one this time, i am utterly sick of your constant gripes and sly digs at people. Fuck off and get a life that doesn't involve bickering and shit stirring and slagging people off for once!!

And finally.......Dingy just incase you didn't get it the first time round..........you are a COCK!

Sorry Staffi, i normally bite my tongue but he got the better of me tonight, plus Dingy will take all that on the chin it won't bother him atall, and i have been on the receiving end of Dingy's tongue a few times, it's about time he got some back from me.

It's not about crossing Nicole.

It's about Dingy shit stirring as per........

Totally uncalled for and unnecessary, since this post was going very well indeed until that point.

From a personal point of view, I would be happy taking my car to Stu or Karl.

Oh, i forgot this sly dig you had at Kenny...

Put, lets say a Cosworth, a Mountune, a Piper and a Kent ground BD14 in a proper camdoctor (You know what one of those is of course) and you will find, guess what, they are all different... and guess what, yeah, ive got teh camdoctor lobe analogy report for all of them... and guess what, one was a fooking std profile.

So kenny said what exactly that was funny and prompted this public slagging from you smart arse?
Also, who told you what Kenny said was wrong? They are obviously just as dumb as you. 2 Smart arse's.

In fact, since you have had a dig at Kenny on a public forum. Care to tell us all, have you ever spoken to kenny personally? And if so, what has he done to upset you so much you want to come on teh internet and slag him off to his friends and customers?

To be honest - i've only heard good things about both NMS & MSD.

I've been on a night out with Stu and have already spoken to him about him mapping my T2 and jetting my gas...

I've spent a weekend at Santa Pod with Kenny as well so feel absolutely comfortable with the idea of them both working on my pride and joy.

ive been reading this and it seems that 99% of people are saying the same-both tuners are very capable of doing their job.some people are reccomending one over the other due to their experiences(myself included).
if someone thinks one of them is much better than the other then its their opinion but why slag off the other tuner in any way shape or form.has he had experience from the other tuner to make him opt for the other one?probably not!i think a bit of banter between car owners is ok and acceptable but it does seem to go quite a bit further than this.

my car is in for a live map with msd in a few weeks and if it comes out like i think it will(as long as my cars mechanicals take it-if my gearbox lets go it wont be their fault!)i will continue to reccomend msd to people, but if someone says"what about norris?"i can only say "ive heard good things about him, give him a ring".its up to the customer who they choose.if nms booking in time is anything like msd then im sure he is doing something right, just like stu and kenny are.

just my 10p worth.....

Me and my friend dont own Cosworths or RS's. We just own standard 1.6 fords. And we asked Stu@MSD for some advice about mapping etc and he was very helpful. Since then whenever i go to a ford meet,Show etc and people ask about mapping and stuff i always say motor sport develepmonts. But both companys seem to be as good as each other.

i have used both, and the simple answer i can give....which is sticking to the way this thread is going,is that you'll have no problems with either

your cars will be transformed by both companies and will run perfectly well for a very long time provided you take their advice and maintain your car as they recommend!!

i had the cossie in my sig setup to stage 3 level by MSD,and it was awesome, but sadly due to problems with the car (fuel pump wiring/loom/ecu) the car needed further work....

STU RECOMMENDED NMS to me as Karl was closer and i've been delighted with Karls work

Very good of you to mention that Martin, hopefully it will help people to realise that many of us tuners actually get on with each other just fine, and send each other work. Its some of teh customers that cause all the internet bickering...

To be fair I didn't think Dingy was referring to Stu. I took it as a dig at Ahmed, because of the bad history of Ahmed mapping Dingy's engine.

The question for the topic is "Karl or Me. So im certain everyone will have read that as slagging me off Lynne, and if not he should make himself clearer if he wants to wander off topic, plus, like i said, if thats his reasoning he cant use poor Karl anymore either.

Dingy strikes again.

For fuck sake will you behave

As good a friend as you are, i have to agree with Stu and Nicole, you're being a cock!
