RS200 is right up there mate.
but, i would imagine that its Properly the sort of thing
you can Only use on very special occasions, else it would spend its
time being fixed more than working ??
be something amazing to say u have/have had though!!

awesome cars, but in no way practical. i seem to remember a quote from the rs200 handbook was something like 'if you need to use your car on the road...' pure rallying machines not particularly cheap to look after and source bits for... unless you know a man who deals with them

A purchase sounds imminant and you wish us just to clarify your thoughts are right.
Go for it if you want it that bad. Very nice car and yes I would say its a car, Ford fanatics "should own" once in a lifetime.
Seems you have achieved plenty with your escos at the shows so sell up and take the bull by the horns.
Good luck with your decision.

by the sounds of it mate you have the best of the rest so why not go for it,i wish i was in youre position to even have the chance,it has to be somthing that you have to go for just to say you have, hell if you want practicality and reliability then get a daewoo matiz,if you want something you probably couldnt describe in words then get them up 4 sale and get buying, lifes too short not to and it aint like it will ever loose value, even more rare than the mile high club and i bet no matter what show/meet you go,dont need telling what would steal the show!!! good luck regardless

mate, it would be silly NOT to IMHO, a focus RS is a focus with a boy racer engine in, a escos is nice but still an escort under the flash body kit, an RS 200 is a legendry group B rally car, fucking do it, could be dead tommorow live for the moment , if you hate it, sell it and start again

RWD_cossie_wil you have ways of thinking that I cannot begin to understand. You say Escort Cossie is just an Escort even though it shares almost no common parts with Escorta...and you want to make yountimer classic rallycar RWD....:-/

end of the day Az, I am under no illusions as to what my car is, its a escort with a chopped tunnel and a big engine , And don't get me wrong, I love my car, but an RS 200 is a storming car compared to an escort cossie
And RWD is just soooo much more fun than 4x4

Dunc, some good advice on here, and yes - they are awesome cars. I looked into getting one about a year or so ago...............It's only when you look in the Quaife catalogue at the price of essential replacement parts (engine block/gearsets) that you realise you wont be hooning an RS200 around, because if it goes bang it will cost a fortune to repair
May I suggest that you try some of these:

Think you missed his point there mate, see yours though, but he`s hardly gonna start "scandinavian flicking" his 4x4 round Sainsburys car park or the roundabout next to his is he

Professional Waffler
rs 200's are both 4x4 and rwd
some have the changing stick removed,, but there is no problem having them put back on
as porkie says thouh,, i would have a look at a 360 or 996 turbo

Dunccoss you will probably disagree with me but me view is that you should consider if you can afford to actually DRIVE RS200 from time to time. That means you have to have vastly more money then one is worth. If you're not and yiou're only going to keep polishing it, then what for?

I think you're both wrong. RS200 rallycars and RS200 Evo road cars had a handle to lock up centre diffferential for slippery conditions, normally it only ruun 3 viscouse couplers (can you imagine how shit handling with front VC must be?). Also they had lever to change final drive somewhere under rear bonnet. Never heard of possibility to run one RWD and it wouldn't make sense, probably very deadly with front drive failure.

And with RWD'ed Escos will he? Or burn rubber by just applying to much throttle? Doesn't sound that much impressive. You can make 280bhp Escos go sideways on tarmac by just kick in the clutchg if you need very much. And you can do your roundabout sideways...
Of course I often miss a point, and I'm strange guy from far way country, but I try to understand.... I really do.

I said it was 4wd
I think the torque splits were 40/60 50/50 60/40
