Its been in a guys private collection since 1979 then he died in Feb and his Mrs is selling of his collection. A pal who drives long distance heard about it and told me. I wish I had some more moolah going spare as there is a minty mint RS200 going under the hammer as well

What a collection hest have been loaded to hav that collection.

Only thing is about this Escort cam if you drove it there is a chance of damaging it & you will lose a fortune & if it gets stored you will have a very expensive orniment..it belongs in a museum..would love to see this tho.

i think this is the same guy who i bought some rs200 wheels off,

he rallyed an escort cosworth,

he was a nice guy, but died of cancer recently,

never saw his rs200 but i knew he had it and he did mention that he had a collection of cars,

can not be many people who have an rs200 in there car collection who died recently,

escort mk1 rs1600 in this condition would be worth quite a bit,

The RS1600 featured the Cosworth 16v belt driven twincam motor (designated BDA MEANING BELT DRIVEN A series) that was still in use as late as the RS200 in BDT (T for turbo) form. Just as a Cosworth YB is based on a Pinto motor the BD series were based on the OHV crossflow motor.

Actually you hit the nail on the head
I had an RS2000 when I was 19 but my 2 slightly older buddies had mint RS1600s and I always coveted them
I remember one was stolen and the other was sold for 5k...damn why didn't I buy it......BIG REGRET
Then there was the RS1800 in the next village that was rotten (Flintstone car style rotten) that I was offered for 2.5k
Mind you it was 20 years ago

thanks for that,

Stunning, i've just moved into my first place, and once the missus' car has been replaced I am going to start looking seriously about a MK1, but not one thats worth 30K more like the mexicos that come up on ebay etc circa 6K

i would easily pay 30k for a BDA with 7k on the clock. More rare than RS500's, and your bound not to see another one on the road.

I've only ever seen one locally - the only thing that would put me off is the lack of headrests, everyone following would be blinded by my bald patch!
