Getting car ready for some more BHP!
Have been doing some prep work for extracting some more BHP from my engine..
have been messing around with my breather system as i dont think the bailey one is up to much on high powered engines runing tons of boost..
the pics look shit but im just trying to improve on bailey design and have spoken to another company about getting a better one made.
have changed the configuration of the bailey so that it now breathes out of the turbo side of the block (as i now believe it should)rather than using that as a return, and the cam cover and the standard position...
initial testing seems to be positive.
ignore the bottles as they are there just to see if anything actually comes out.
what do people think about this, as you never seem to get a definate answer on the best breather set ups??
should be better once the new seperator and aero hoses are on
next phase is my new exhaust..
picked up my down pipe today..
what you guys think?
4"
having the rest of the system made up in twin 3"..
the exhaust combined with some more mapping and the cams set up should see another 30 BHP on top of my figure just now

And hell, inside the turbo the space is MILES less than at the outlet.
Backpressure.

I am not the best person to explain it matt but i have seen AVA testing exhaust on various high power cars an they know this works...
in a standard off the shelf cossies exhaust(magnex, mongoose) there is back pressure in the exhasut at anythin gover 300 ATW...
i have mega back pressure at 400..
Alan and Tom at AVA worked out the theoretical size the exhaust needs to be an this is the best way to try and achive it.
reduction in back presssure is only a good thing and i wont have the T4 for ever

Rod is your current set up breathing from the cam cover, the standard postion and the turbo side then the first tank is a seperator and the second a catch tank?

With the new spec long stroke engine and the NOS we needed something a little more , 99% of the engines running this kind of power would be on a dry sump set up.

will aslo have the extra power at lower boost level so should be easier on the engine

think for high HP applications its advisable to have a swirl and a catch tank seperate, like rods setup, rather than an all in one item.
correct?
i have a very similar setup to rods.

there should be a seperator and a catch tank, but a swirl pot?
you mean for the coolant system?
