i bought one a couple of weeks ago, a one year old







soooo cute, but mainly sleeps and eats and sometimes shits lol


got mine from a pet shop in town, paid Ł110

do some research on net bout them, and DONT put it in a vivarium, make your own home for it out of mdf, loads of info on net

was told by shop hes a hermann, but i have my doubts, i think hes a horsefield... i built a basic roofless box about 1x1.5m, 30 cm high (they like to escape everywhere) got a heat mat on floor, basking spotlight above heat mat, reptile flouro light across box in middle, water bowl low sided so he can climb in it, newspaper on base, with reptile bark on one half...

i will post some more, and some links etc later tonight as i have to go somewere for a bit

heres our torts they are cherry head red legs we got these cos they dont hibernate they are awake all year round









heres their vivarium



their names are cherry and patches (patches is the smaller one) and they are just over a year old we got them from a reptile shop near us

do they smell. i was thinking of keeping it in my bed room but i smell enough without the added tortious.

also have read in many a place that a vivarium can be bad for them as it gets too humid, if you have one its best to take the doors off and use it like an open topped box.
