Is you paint in good condition to start with ?

How old is the paint, is it metalic, is it a clear coat ?

I guess from you post you dont want to spend much time so that would limit you to a 'all in one' type product.

i swear by Mer, apply with a wet cloth to a wet car, leave for half an hour and buff off, there are other (more expensive) ones out there, but I find this quick and gives 'good-enough-for-me' results. I'm just worried that all this polishing is taking microns of paint off, so may look for a non abrasive product when my Mer runs out.

I have some autoglm resin polish, but i only use that for windows now.

You could go the beeswax route, swissol and all that, but i think its a waste for a black car.

www.swissol.co.uk - Top stuff, natural products too, so it's 'kind' to paintwork.
