Default stg 3 4x4 vs new shape m3 ?

im just curious here but how would a stg 3 4x4 saph with say 350 hp do against a new m3 from the lights and also say 70 to 100mph ?

think the m3 would murder the saph,

matt

Very valid point, sorry but the saff would murder one,I take it you mean 330+ BHP, the day before I sold my saff I raced a grey one, close but I was pulling away on the M right the way through

I bet theres at least 10 threads on this in the last year

kills you all talk bollocks!

I've owned a stg 3 escos for 3 years and a 440 esc cos for 7 months

I now own an E46 M3 and can quite honestly say, the Ł46 is more than a match for a stg 3 cossie from lets say, 70 upwards

Top end it may be quicker as mine still has 48 exh so it runs out of legs, but he never got a chance to prove it

Check out www.track-challenge.com and you can compare some modern cars.

They also got different accelleration figures.

Only found elasticity figures for the M3

M3 E46 80-200kph (50-124mph) and in 4th it does it 18s, blank.

Now, ive done this with my Sapph and logged it with the Pectel Monitor and then calculated the speed using RPM and gearning figures. Even confirmed the calculated speeds using a GPS and it was spot on.

Result, 15 seconds.

Now thats 3 seconds faster and I actually started accellerating and measuring the time at 75kph. So 75-200kph was 3s faster than the E46 does 80-200kph.

Its when they have been de-restricted thats when m3's can cause us cossie boys a few problems, i have had a go with a few of the latest m3's and done em all, had a go with a fella round egham and his one was the earlier shape around p or r reg, that was the only m3 that has stuck on my daily but still couldn't get passed until i let him, then he flew onto a roundabout and nearly got whacked by another motorist bmw drivers eh!

Don't try and stick with an M3 CSL through roundabouts unless you've got a brilliant grip/handling set-up

And Sapphire Cossies only do a TRUE speed of 157mph if they have the standard limiter in place (17" wheels) .

Last summer i had a 2wd saph with greens 24 psi t34 ect & the saph was quicker than a guy i knows e46 m3 quite a bit till about 145 - 150 then his car grew legs & he has had it from new but it goes by 155 no limiter strange i also work for bmw i speak to ppl on many occasions & they say their crs goes bye 155 & my mates has also just bought a e46 m3 convertible and its the same..quite strange either they are talking crap
or the speedo isnt accurate & theyre not really going past 155 or the limiter is fiction---What do you think?

My E46 goes past the limiter too...

i think the 155 is bollocks tbh..

I have seen 170 on the speedo...

I reckon true speed is 160 or thereabouts

either way, i havent hit a limiter... YET

I beleive you dave i have seen this countless times
& i know the cars have defo never had the limiter removed
my mate likes cars but he dosent know that much & beleives he is really doing 175 mph as you say 160-165 prob right
I do know the bmw e39 m5 defo sits on 155 & wont budge as i have seen it for my own eyes.
But i dont think the e46 has the limiter.

That picture's too smooth to be taken whilst driving Or maybe it's more refined then taking a pic in a beantin

Either way, that's fooking speeds. Be interesting to see what the gps score would be tho.

csl is lighter, has better suspension, slightly remapped ecu, uber bling inlet system, bigger brakes.

no mods cons though and a fluffy steering wheel.

Pure toy, for the track etc.. not a daily driver at all
