Think you're meant to match the code from the existing fusebox, there were a few variations.....

SImon.

The MK5 fuse boxes are identical from my experience just a different
configuration of relays/links/fuses etc which are all easily interchangeable.

I replaced my mates Mk5 RS2000 (martyn B's) with one of of a Big turbo
escos just replacing the relays links in the same configuration.

That was the exact problem !!!

We replaced Martyns as thats what he wanted to do.
I fixed the old one for a spare for him (all sold now).

This problem is usually easy to fix (for someone good with a soldering iron)

Remove the WHOLE box from the car by unplugging it.
(Disconnect car battery first)

Remove all the fuses/relays/links making a note of where they go.
(Take photos or make notes)

Unclip the front panel, then unclip both top and bottom covers.

Solder around fuse 5 and any other dry/charred looking joints and repair
any tracks that look burned out by soldering copper wire lengths to
reinforce the the connections. (normally around the fuel pump relay)

Copper wire stripped from lighting cable in B+Q or Great Mills is good.

Put it all back together EXACTLY as removed and try it !!!

All in all took me about 2 hours to.

My escos too failed with this common problem and I fixed that too

most esc cossies had same fuse box as mk5 RS2k thats why you had no prob exchanging the 2.

all boxes are different with many variations. all the RS2k i seen had the boxes ending in BBD, this was also the same box as early 1.8 zetec engined escorts without air-con.

whichever yours is you must match up the last 3 letters, or 2 letters on 1995 on models.

not all interchangeable as you will note with some there is no connectors in the fuse holes for ie central locking, fuel pump or electric windows etc.
if you had the box of a bog standard esc diesel for instance theres very few plaves you could actually place the fuse compared to zetec model.
