I was Houx for the whole week. Awesome time and close to the circuit. A friend of a friend is a Member of the ACO and got us cheap tickets. Definately spend the extra and get a grandstand seat though (90 euros).

And if you go early you get all the practice sessions on the wednesday and thursday evenings with not many people about so you can get closer.

whats the houx campsite like? space wise?

we had a nice big plot, in houx annexe, but would have liked to have had the electrical hook up and water supply. like you get in houx.

We all camped at Maison Blanche. This (IMO) is the best campsite as it is on a go-kart track therefore the roads around the site are tarmac. The end result being that there is very little dust like on other campsites around the circuit.

You are right next to the track, 30 metres, (On the outside of the circuit just up from the Porsche Curves). The only thing thats crap is the shower block and toilet facilities - there's not enough. Sometimes you had to queue for a shower for 45 minutes.

You'll have to ring http://www.traveldestinations.co.uk/ on 0870 033 9923 to get an exact price but to give you an idea we had a car with 4 passengers from Portsmouth to Cherbourg on the Fast Cat (3 hours) Camping and General Entry Ticket for Wed-Mon and the total cost was approx £800.00 which was about £200.00 each.

Then you just got to add on AA cover, Food (Carrefour) and Fuel and divide the cost by the numbers in your party. We BBQ'd every night and drank like fish and the total bill for each person over 5 days was approx £300.00.

Hope this helps...

Matt

N.B. We've already reserved campsite spaces for next years race. Maison Blanche is the most popular / expensive campsite and will be fully booked by the end of August 2005 for next years race - so be quick!!

It was fine as we had booked 8 plots together so the cars were all on one side and we could space the tents accordingly. We had the power so we brought along a proper fridge for all the beer and food.

The showers and bogs were also excellent for a french campsite.

We tried to get on maison blanche for next year and its booked up already. We were in Karting Nord, Vert. which wasn't a bad campsite, was on the infield of the track near the Porsche Curvs and Arnage corner.

It is such an awesome experience one which you have gotta do. Do the atmosphere is amazing all the time, you'd have to go to believe it.

Cost us 190 from tuesday to sunday then you'll need around £250 for spendo and a WATER GUN.

P.s was any of you who went on the roundabout near arnage on the friday it was rammed. You got very wet if you went round lol

camped there in a camper last year. it was a top weekend, listening to all the bikes at night was cool too.

the site we were at was bang next to the circuit, on the opposite side to the long straight (what they use on the road circuit)

we got in the site for free (driving right passed the security) and managed to get into the circuit for free on both days. none of the security speak english so just talk random crap for a while and they just let you go through. it probably saved us all £1000 all together that weekend!

the site was ok, with a bridge going to the circuit entrance, but as with all the sites, the facilities were $hite! about 2 toilets and a shower, in the end we just roughed it, and had a quick shower in my uncles hotel room down the road on the first night.

top weekend and would deffo go again!

there were some crazy germans with a full pig on a spit too, selling pieces for like 1 euro! lol
