2.9 bell housing is taller at the front

2.0 and cosworth are the same case

internals on the cosworth are different in so much that 5th gear layshaft has an oil flicker/spinner in a cosworth box.

I've used both gearboxes in my cosworth with no problems.

the dohc one bolts directly to the cossie enigne
ratios are the same inside, it's the diffs that are differnt front and rear on the dohc, they are 3.92:1 rather than 3.62:1 like in everything else

the V6 box has a longer input shaft than the dohc one and the bolt holes in the top are different
otherwise it's all good

so i still none the wiser to my problem does any one think it could be the front diff as i have changed the rear for a car i drove so i know that right bought the gearbox and seen the cosworth it came out of cant see me having two short ratio boxes and neither have a seperate bell housing.

another easier way to tell

2.8 and 2.9 boxes the cltuch arm is on the drivers side

on dohc and cosworth its on the passenger side

easiset way o tell the boxes apart

the ratios are the same in all the boxes i was told

id go with dojj sounds like you have teh dohc diffs in there but still they pull up over 150

best thing to do is change both diffs again for cosworth 3.6 items, 2.9 are the same

if you've changed the rear diff you've fooked the viscous coupling in the transfer box mate if you've used the wrong ratios
you need to have matched diffs front and rear

The 2 litre version is not a direct swap - the case physically fits but you need to change the pivot pin that holds the clutch release arm inside the bell housing- its longer on the cosworth version - easy to do and only a couple of quid from Ford - just tap out the old one and tap in the new one otherwise the clutch arm does not sit properly against the clutch

You need to use the cosworth release arm as the 2 litre one is to shallow -£20 from Ford new

Also the centre shaft where the clutch release bearing sits is 10mm longer on the cosworth version - it will work but the bearing will be very close to the end of the shaft when the clutch is fully in
