Default going on track on sat car now boils over..... help!!!!!!!

Today I finished of months of work building my xr4x4 track car then as I was putting it away it boiled over, did some checks and it seemed to be an airlock, the rad was changed months ago but the car hasn't run much since just around my workshop.
put the heater on hot it was warm, the temp was in the middle, turned it off removed the thermostat as I thought it could be that, topped it up then and ran it again it got to normal temp then boiled up (by boiled up I mean the pressure increased in the header tank and overflowed it the water isn't too hot!)
so we then put the front of the car on my 4 poster and raised the front as high as we dare ran the engine and it was fine....
than as soon as we lowered it it overflowed again!!!
our thinking is that it is a blocked heater but im not sure how that would cause the pressure increase
we also did a pressure test on the cooling system( using the correct equimpent) and all was fine
compressioin tested a couple of cylinders and they were ok (couldn't do the rest as the comp tester fouled the manifold!)

so I am on track on saturday now with no car

any one any ideas???
thinking of bypassing the heater tomoz and trying that, cant get my head round why it only does it on level ground tho...
sorry for the essay but im gutted 6 months of work is about to go to waste..

cheers
steve

If you have hot air in the car wont be the heater matrix blocked

Try another expansion bottle cap as the 16psi pressure relief valve may be faulty thus allowing coolant to escape .

Hope that is of some use ?

doug, with the coolent level at minimium and the cap off at tickover the level gradually increase till it's coming out the top, the system isn't under pressure as the caps off..

cheers for the idea tho,

Yes it will do mate as the coolant system is expanding under heat increase do a break off test on the cap and see what that comes up with 1st, Any car running with the cap off will over flow specially at the point where the electric fan is about to cut in which is when the stat opens.

If the cap reads 12psi or lest on test its fooked bin it !

Or if you have another ford there borrow the cap to rule it out .

ran cars with the cap off before and they havent done that, will try it tho i have some mondeo's in the workshop i can rob the cap off,

Brian, the rad temps are hot all over it, no cold spots,
gladdy and chris were helping me out and reckon it's the heater , im not convinced tho..

bad news mate looks like we have all leftt it a bit late
These cars should have been finished ages ago ,and croft is only round the corner

Mine is running a lot better ,so i will give it a couple of laps to see how it is ,if it aint sounding to good (missing and the like)i will be bringing it off and spending some time so it is good for latter events
