And as for help, damn i help out a lot of people. I help the old woman at the station yesterday morning carrying her suitcase up the stairs trying to board a trian, or the bloke who broke down outisde my house the other week. I did that beacuse i could see that they were in a situation where i could put myself out a tiny amount to help someone who was in need of help.
In this case and in any other charity case (cause that is what it is) on a public board, you are helping someone out for your own sake. Its a clear selfish act. If you are all so fcuking keen to help someone out financially, try helping the millions of people in this world who need real help. Not someone who has an escort cossie, her partners got an evo who had a little misfortune that most of us on this board have also had.

Heres my opinion from another topic to save me writing a afresh one. Its slightly out of context as it was dealing with "Gra"'s idea of a permanent fund to cover financial help for members who had disasters. Its relevant as i gave my view as to "Why" Folk want to help out occasionally as with Jim and more recently, Maria.

Funds setup for the sole reason of helping out folks in unfortunate circumstances would simply cause trouble amongst existing users with topics such as "Well he got a gearbox and ive more posts than him" and also have folk joining for the sole reason of ripping us off and earning themselves a fast buck.
I think it should be left alone and leave it to operate as it is now, a "Community"
Simple example to prove thats what we have developed:
Q). If Maria was a newbie user with 5 posts, would anyone really care about her plight?
A). NO.
So why do we care about Maria?
We do because shes a part of the community and we see her as a friend, a familiar face in our day to day lives whos fell on hard times due to her car/passion, just like a neighbour / workmate.
Did the fact she is good looking help? Easy to say yes, because she is, but im going to say NO. Why? Because Jim had a similar amount of help when he fell unlucky and his car burnt out and most the peeps offering to help were heterosexual males.
Leave the PF community as it is and let it grow further, its come a long way in a short time and the only financial things i want to worry about is how Petrucci and myself pay for its existence... its far too soon for a PF benevolent fund...
Great idea though in concept, and my opinion is not necessarily correct, but its there all the same

I've just waded through this whole post.... what a read.
I've been hearing about this saga from all sorts of people, people not even remotely linked to the RS scene.
Perhaps if people put more effort into finding the trader who sold Maria the car in the first place than offering her a tenner then she'd get enough money back to pay for her engine build anyway...
But I guess its much easier for the keyboard warriors to bitch at each other on the net than get out there on the streets and find someone who'd ripped a friend off in such a big way.

maria sorry to hear about your car probs,i had some shit off people when a donation was set up for my wife anita when she crashed my cossie and was seriously hurt,the fund wasn't the same as yours as we donated it to the air ambulance but still got the same shit you are getting from some people.IF PEOPLE WANT TO HELP HER OUT LET THEM IT GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU.its called FRIENDS HELPING A FRIEND.
