ALTON TOWERS - FAO all those that have been / stayed over
Looking to book a hotel and go to the park
can anyone reccomend some decent B&B's or hotels near the park?
or possibly Hotel and park deals?
ive tried google but there is such a load of stuff avail.. the majority is SHIT
the actual alton towers hotel is an option, but it looks very kiddie / family orientated, whereas to be honest.. I want a hotel where i can bang the shit out of her and not have a tube of smarties fall on my head
thks

i used to work at the towers hotel and to be honest it's overpriced tat imo, you're much better off trying one of the local B&B's in Alton, never stayed myself but there are a few here
http://www.bedandbreakfast-directory...n%20towers.htm
the best ones go for as far as location is concerned are in the Alton/ Oakamoor/Cheadle/Tean areas
Alton and Oakamoor are right on the doorstep and have quite a few 'late night' pubs which have chucking out time of when you can't walk anymore
anything else just ask

i asked this last week you goon
went from wed to fri last week with the missus, had a good time
i would never pay there full prices however.
£14 for a leg of duck on a bit of spinach or something... was a main course aswell, my girlfriend was moaning like mad that she was still starving...
however, the £40, one course meal, didnt come up on the bill... result!
we had a buy one night get one free thingy, and we used a BOGOF ticket entry thing for the park, so we payed £180 for 2 people/2 nights (inc park/waterpark)
the waterpark is ok for adults, but wait a month before going, as the 3 outdoor slides were closed for some maintenance work
if you have kids, thay will love it, its well themed, for the romantics, its ok too, set in an awesome picturesc (*sp) part of the country...
watch out for the chavs though!
EDIT: The beds are comfy, dont squeak , and if you stay in the main hotel, not the waterpark one, get a normal room, they are like a normal hotel room...
give her one from me!

Coming from Cheadle I can't really comment on any of the B&B's but having been in the hotel a few times (work related) I can confirm it is a bit of a kiddie parlor.
This place was always pretty highly rated:

As others have said, Splash Landings Hotel is superb if you have kids. We loved it. But you can stay at Alton Towers Hotel, which is right next-door and still have use of the water-park etc anyway.
Ms B and I went with Rosie (Beccy's little girl) and my mother and it just happened that the beds were squeaky, so there would have been NO banging for us.
Nice thing is that if you stay in their hotels, you get priority entry 30mins before the park opens and on the opposite side to the normal entrance. So you get in right by Air and Nemesis a good 45 minutes before anyone else gets over there.
We also stayed the night before in a really nice guest-house in Ellastone. It is 5 mins drive away and has a half-decent pub 5 mins walk up the road.

stayed at the splash landings hotel a couple of years ago & was obviously very kiddie orientated as you'd expect but you should be able to slip her a length without waking up the whole hotel. As someone else said staying in the hotels in the park does get you into the park 30 - 45 minutes before everyone else which is a good advantage.
There are plenty of places near by though
