I iirc correctly an EVO FQ 340 does 0-100mph in around 10 seconds and 0-60mph in about 4 seconds. Your cossies must be some spec to beat this Evo.

I think thats a matter of opinion.

Its a great performing car, but its dull. I drove one, and while it handles incredibly, goes fairly well, nothing gives you a 'spine tingle'. lol

The steering felt like that of my trans am (that means dull lol), the noise of engine like a........evo, and as its 4wd, its just no fun unless you want to do stupid speeds round corners and TBH, that just seems too dangerous to me 99% of the time.

An old mini corners very well too, but it aint my pick of car. lol

They're overated....but then thats also a matter of opinon.

I'm guessing an Evo handles better if not the same as a new scoob no? Well if they call that handling well then they can be that bad? Have 2 mates with Zetec S' on Coilovers, one had a play with a 444hp M3 and it was getting tailhappy while he sat up its arse, the other had a thing with a scoob around a few roundabouts in basildon, could only hope to keep up on the straights, then had to back right off round corners, I'm talking about him losing a good 200mtrs because he slowed down that much...

Now is that driver error, scared of boost or the car? I'm guessing the 1st or second as the Scoob is no way a bad handler no? But the M3 was supercharged so no boost.. Shame really, dread to think what would have happened if the Zetec S had double the power.

Oh well.. shame some people really can't drive their cars properly.

sounds like driver error
(or having the sense not to lose his license just ot prove to a chav that an evo handles better than a boyed up old fiesta )

I'd play with most people, at the end of the days if you have a decent sized set of balls most people wont play any way,

I drove an Evo IX FQ340 the other week at work, IMO an awesome car. Well balanced, very powerful and handling that I would dearly love on my cossie. I've driven brand new scoobies and beemers aswell and they don't come close to the EVo. I know if I went up against one in my saff, 330bhp etc, I wouldn't be so confident that I'd come out victorious

I believe that drivern correctly you take your personal driving experience to a different level (i am talking average drivers here not track fanatics)

I love mine i push it hard enough for me to feel like i am pushing it, i am sure i have not even been close to the edge in mine yet,

The steering is pin point accurate and very precise. If dull is how you choose to describe such a degree of accuracy, then dull it is.

all said and done the evo has better ride comfort, handling and reliability as standard from the factory. but picture this, in 20 years time ask your self how many people are going to follow any old evo (ie 6,7,8,9) but look at the presence a cossy still has on the roads today with whats now primitive technoligy from a car from the 80s

Didn't say an evo? M3's arse was kicking out so he was giving it the beans. Subaru just couldn't touch it. Not chavs either tbh.

I chose the word dull because it didnt have 'feel'. It can be very precise, but it felt like the steering wheel attached to my PC. lol

I like cars that have a mechanical feel, as though you're actually having to control it. The evo is just not that sort of car. Its point and shoot. lol

i have to say i have raced an evo fq340 myself from a from a 2nd gear rolling start side by side and up to 150mph.and we were both 2 up.i had my other half(racey)in the car,and i give the bloke full credit, cos we were dead level right up to our top.not a bit between us and mines running 350ish.i have raced alot of cars as im sure most people on here have and i will quite happily admit if i lose.but i wont lie and say i won if i didnt. it all depends on the drivers i think.obviously the 2 of us were well matched in well matched cars.but i have to admit he would kill me in a corner.

Couldnt agree more Andy. Also these comments in about 20 years time how many people will remember evo cars? Err well the lancer Evo has been out approx 15 years so far and is still going strong. Are Evo 6 cars not aaproaching 7 years old?

Whoever said a zetec s on coil overs was sitting near a 444bhp m3 needs there head examined. Using equal skill drivers the only way these cars would sit next to each other is in the pit lane.

I pretty much agree with that.....even though he thought he was disagreeing with me.

Although, the old lancers dont have anywhere near the following of the cosworth. Not even close. They just werent as good.

It is funny how a 20 year old cosworth gets compared to the modern evos so much. A testiment to how good it originally was i suppose. Its a shame people omit this bit so much when comparing. lol
