Why bin a perfectly good sensor thats sole reason for existence is to detect detonation and try to save your engine from meltdown for you?

Well this is why i asked the question in the first place Stu.

But does P8 even use it? it seems alittle pointless if its not being used by the ECU?

Keep Coughing, water injection was only fitted for Homologation so it WAS needed for the vehicles designed purpose. Once it was no longer NEEDED they stopped fitting it... fancy that!

You asked if the P8 used it and to me that was an odd question seeing as it IS wired directly into the ecu as you have no doubt noticed. They dont fit engine sensors for nothing, especially expensive ones like the knock sensor.

As for teh Pectel software, no idea if the P8 stuff by Pectel downgrades the ecu like it did with L8 or not but the Marrelli P8 software most certainly uses it, as did the L8 before it. You best bet is to ask Ahmed if its his software, he will probably know with any luck.

Franco,
If you're going to ever revert the car back to standard, keep it. However, Dave is correct in saying that the Pectel board / software does not utilise the knock sensor with the P8 ECU.

where can I buy them from, as the wires on mine are that badly damaged (note, snapped off like a carrott) it would seem silly not to replace the whole thing before i re-fit my engine
