How hard can it be to flare brake pipe ???????
Morning folks,
Having a MAJOR problem trying to flare the ends on some Ford Steel brake pipe.....is there any easy way ???
I got some of the original green steel brake pipe thats used on the Series 1 Turbos, but when i put it in the flaring tool, it just pushes back out the other side, and strips all the lovely green coating off of it.....and no flare....
Really starting to hack me off now, as i NEED the brake pipes on, but just cant get it flared !!
Is there an easy option ? I refuse to just fit crappy copper pipe.

There's probably some special ford tool that you can only buy from the RSOC commodore general rear admiral that costs the same as a Phalanx missile system
Good luck either way

its defo possible to flare the steel brake line!
maybe try borrowing a different flareing tool from someone.
or possibly check to see if a car shop sells a heavy duty one.

i must be the tool then as said.
rather than go to the expense of buying one why not mark where you want the flares done & take the pipes to a local garage, halfords, spares shop that makes pipes up. & get them to do it

I was told need a hydraulic flare tool for steel pipe, cost about £95, as the cheaper ones will not handle steel pipe. I did as above and got the flares done at a local garage, didn't cost a lot.
