Default Ayrton Senna

Ive just spent most of the afternoon on Ayrton Senna sites and ive come across some cracking videos:

http://www.madmarty.net/senna/2senna..._narration.avi

http://www.madmarty.net/senna/F1%20-...-%20Senna.mpeg

http://www.madmarty.net/senna/94-imola-griglia1.mpeg

http://www.madmarty.net/senna/Ayrton...%20cuori).mpeg

http://www.madmarty.net/senna/GTF1_Senna_Tribute.ram

I have to say without doubt he is better than Schumacher will ever be, and i'm a Schumacher fan.

Some of his stats:

Number of GP:161
Victories: 41
Pole-positions: 65
Laps in the first place: 2984
Kilometers at first place: 13600
Championships points: 614

http://www.ddavid.com/formula1/ayrton-senna.htm <-- a great site

I read a paragraph written by Senna on a site (sorry tried hard but couldn't locate it again). He spoke about like feeling he was past his limits, felt like he was in a constant tunnel but still managed to keep going faster and faster.

Truely awesome and awe inspiring.......

It was Imola '94 i think, i rememer watching that sat next to my dad. I was only 7 at the time. His Monaco lap in one of the videos is absolutely amazing, showing truely superb car control. Since then i think GP has gone down hill, and IMO this is partly due to the crash - which forced the FIA to get serious about safety. Fair play, but it just isn't the same. I didn't realise that there was so much contovercy over the crash or "accident" before today Quite sad really

It was 1994 mate! I wasn't properly into motorsport in those days, had only just started watching it really so never got to see him race much Will download those clips later though

Roland Ratzenburger IIRC........

They days of Senna and Mansell wheel to wheel and making their cars go sooo much faster than their respective team-mates are gone.....mores the pity. Both capable of heroic driving that we just dont see anymore

Awesome links, I was a big Senna fan and I agree - Schuey may be good but he's not in the same league. F1 these days is pretty dull, only a serious downpour injecting some life into it.

I agree senna was a legend and an awesome driver, but you can't ignore the stats and schuey IS the most succesful f1 driver ever and the records are still growing! Ok, ayrton had at least 5 more years in f1 and would no doubt been more succesful but i think that schuey is definately a better all round driver, the complete package. Ayrton had raw speed but maybe lacked the all round judgment of a complete racer . Just my opinion

you only have to look and see damon hill almost beat shumi in 94' (some would say he did win it really) can you imagine if ayrton was there for the whole year?

he would have made shumi look an idiot imo.

this should be a senna appreciation post not a senna vs. schumacher post

senna was great no doubt and i enjoy watching replays of him maybe more than any other driver , he had a lot of flare and character

thanks for the vids they were really good to watch , any more??

btw im a huge shumacher fan and i also think he is great but never like to compare them , both drivers have done so much

Senna had sack fulls of charisma, not unlike Mansell, Piquet and Prost. Where are all the characters now. They're all so dull and politically correct. Hands up who thinks Kimi R is some kind of cyborg?!

The tribute vid is very cool. I have all the FIA GP reviews from 1982-1994 on VHS, anyone know how to save them to HD or DVD or anything?

Well he didnt beat him in the 1st few races of 94 did he. MS was way ahead going into Imola 94.

I have got more videos but i don't have my own webspace, i've tried hosting before but kept on getting complaints from Lycos over exessive use of bandwidth

Any 1 care to upload their vids or any other good links?

IMO opinion Senna was the best of the best and nowadays it would be impossible to compare the likes of Schumacher to him because the sport has changed so much, because of his devastating crash. Although Schumacher did race against Senna, he wasn't at the peak of his career (Schumy i mean). Back in the day it was just about sheer car control (No traction control etc the way it still should be now) and nerves something Senna had bucketloads more than any other driver.

'Blurring green, blue and yellow,
Never turned at Tamburello,
Formula One's saddest ever day,
Saw The Greatest Ever taken away'

AYRTON SENNA da SILVA
THE FASTEST EVER
MAY HE REST IN PEACE
