Default Acess Databases

Anyone on here a wizz at these?

I'd like to creat a Database containing the following:

Name
Group
Dealership
A photo

The idea is to have a searchable database so that is you know someones name you can find which group they are in and bring up a photo of them.

The 1st three I can sus out, but can you make Acess bring up a photo?

yes you can...

the easiest way (imho) is to store the individual pics on the PC somewhere and have the photo field as a text field with the pathname to the relevant photo, then have access interpret this similar to how you use [img] tags on here.

there are more ways of doin it tho, but i assume this is a simple database on your own PC, so its how i personally would go about it coz its fookin simple compared to the other methods (imho)

Ok...

Its no problem to store the photos indivudally with a unique number.

How do I get Access to interperate the text sting so as to display it as a picture?

You could use visual basic , Just right a program to read all the fields out of a database and throw them in a grid. Then like has been said keep the path of the piccies in a field and then just read the path and display the pic

good way of learning it is to look through the help files and also some of the sample/wizard databases. There is a book called Access for Dummies I think?

The actual thing you want sounds fairly simple to setup but I'll have a quick look in mo and see if i can sort some examples out for you.

try adding a Bound Object to the Form and going Insert, Object and Selecting Image from that list. Will try and have a better look over the weekend when I get a bit more time.
