I know Jim Galbally [hope i've spelt that right] had one with not much success but what are they like? power, fuel cosumption, reliablity etc
Or are they best avoided at all costs and best to go for a n/a 24v?

cool cars. well worth finding out about the engine and the conversions b4 buying one tho. Is a real minfield. They're rare, but not that rare if you know what I mean so you'll always see another for sale. and to be honest you'll generally get what you pay for with them. the better examples do do cost more. especially one with a pair of knackered T25's will set you back about 1k for the pair to be reconditioned by TT.

the only problems i had with mine were not caused by the conversion itself, it was caused by a cowboy mechanic ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
LOVELY cars, so very nice to drive. and very quick.
they may not have huge peak bhp figures, but the torque curve is AWESOME, point to point theyre very fast, and you always have power any gear any revs.
i'd love to have another one to be honest, had more of a "grin factor" than the 24v

What it is you see i've seen one on the net for sale nearly 130k miles converted from new, standard, taxed & moted for a few months £850 on a H plate, oh and it's a granada 4x4. but that seems a bit of a bargin to me?
only major pisser is it's 300 miles away from me.

just remember that any car for 850quid will likely need some work on it, so budget for it.
but it should be a nice tidy and quick car

Excellent cars. I ran 1 for about 4 years had the turbos reconditioned for £400 for the pair.
Transmisions unbreakable.
Just used to go through an escort cosworth clutch every year.
Good for 260hp(standard 225) on standard fuel pump/injectors/management.
Feels more like a larger engined na car than a turbo.
got the 1/4 mile time down to 13.5 @99mph. used to take 5k launches all day long
