Default Manifold modding...

Im pretty sure I know the answer here, but just incase ive missed something glaringly obvious, ill ask...

If you have a manifold that is proper basic and poo, a log manifold basically, seemingly made for cheapness and to fit in a space, nothing to do with equal airflow, just 4 runners going into a flat log shaped collector that exits to the downpipe at one end.

At the moment the flow will increase 4-3-2-1.

If i got the exit at one end welded up and a new one placed slap bang in the middle, that wont have any bad effects will it?
I mean by looks of it it will have an improvment in flow overall.

Looks to me that 3+2 will have equally the most airflow, as much as 4 did on the old setup, and 4+1 will have equal airflow too, and about as much as 3 did in the old setup.

Am i missing anything? Pretty sure im not...

Wont the poo log type manifold be tapered to level off the imbalnace in airflow? albeit not perfect but surly if you move the inlet on that same manifold its not flow well at all, kinda not feeding 1 as good as 4 and 2 not as good as 3? if you know what i mean
You could always make an actual poo log type, same size from one end to other then letter box it and run a remote tb. I think that'll flow better than the previous log poo type.

Youd think that would be too, but by physicly looking at it, it dont seem tapered at all.

Another manifold, log crapness or not, will still cost money, wheras im sure i can get this one cut and welded for a few quid idve thought.

Nah GTR manifolds are twin 1-2-3 ones, and pretty good, good for ever 600bhp anyhow.

Ones in question are standard Ford Thunderbird 5litre V8 ones.
