Default Smoking 4x4

Ok need some help my 4x4 saph has burnt away 4 litres of oil in 1'000 miles i'm using 0w-40 castrol edge sport, it gives of white smoke when i really boot it and a bit on overrun, i've been told by my mate who followed me the other day, is this something i should be worried about? have only owned it a few months??? are there any checks i could do to know if it the valve stem seals or possibly a piston???

your using the wrong oil, you need something heavier, castrol 10/60 or mobil 1 15/50

I second that,the oil ur using is v thin for ur car! From what i know cossies do use alot of oil anyways,dnt they?

cheers guy's so if you do an oil change with thicker oil would this stop the smoking and the burning of the oil? i know it will still burn some oil but hopefully a lot slower!!!

That is potentially 80% of your problem.
What spec is teh car and what breather are you using?

Got a bailey breather system brand new in my garage havn'y got round to fitting it yet!

It's got T35, greens, 3bar, chip, rs500 intercooler, exhaust, samco's, bailey header tank and swirl pot.???

Get the breather fitted and change your oil m8 i'd recommend silkolene pro s.

An oil change to some 15/50 Mobil 1 will only cost ya around £20 for the oil (if you know where to buy it ) Plus a filter is £5 or less - easy and cheap way to see if that stops the problem.

Get the breather kit fitted as well - most tuners seem to recommend it on a stage 3 car, not many Cossies around with out them at your spec.
