drop a zetec in if you dont wanna turbo, or if you fancy a challenge put a rs2000 engine in . 150bhp without a turbo in sight

fast road cams, decent panel filter, port n polish, turbo gearbox for the lsd and a decent exhaust system will see a nice improvement on the mfi setup

it all depends on which cams you choose and the obviously each engineers porting & polishing varies so this can all have a huge effect on the power outputs. Again it also depends what stage you went with it. So you could see power outputs of 120bhp all the way to 150 if you really did go the whole hog.. maybe more if it all worked well together

Forgot to mention obviously a decent set-up and tune for the fuelling and ignition side of things is a must have after that kinda work, which again could extract a few horses

Unless u want to keep the engine for some kind of weird originality reason, id drop in a 2 litre Zetec on carbs. Dont forget, tuning the 1600 wont make it feel any faster, just have a greater top speed as ur not going to gain torque.

Mfi doesnt like wild cams. The turbo route is easily the most cost effective route for power.

The cabby's are also heavier so what I would suggest is look to cash in on her and try for a mk5 130bhp as the zetec engines are great and you can get the likes o pulleys, leads plugs, cams etc etc

And most of the rs2000 gear/ mods fits them too s/s exhaust, chips, and of course the most effective TURBO POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But if your heart is set on keeping the cabby, drop in a RST engine or a 2.0 Zetec Engine

And if you want to keep the engine you have all I can suggest is plugs leads, cams, pulleys, air filter induction, s/s exhaust all adds up
