Default How fast do you think it will go ?

IF YOU DONT LIKE THE TECH STUFF GO TO ANOTHER THREAD-THANKS

Having just one last crack at the Topspeed record. Interested in how fast you think the Cossie can go in the confines of Brunters & also your guess at Peak Power required, bearing in mind Peak Power is at 7k & we will try to pull past 8k so Power is dropping bigtime.
Gearing is 217 @ 8.3k in 5th.
The problem- At 200mph you are covering about 100m/sec, so 200 to 210 will take over 600m , 200mph at the mile has to be achieved to get to 212+ & the faster you go the longer you need to stop & Brunters aint getting any longer. Its a Bugger- answers on a postcard toooooo.......

Ive my Cals & thoughts.

YOUR THOUGHTS ON WHATS POSSIBLE or IMPOSSIBLE.

Rod

Why is peak power still at 7k? I would have thought that you could play with the cams / cam timing for the run to swap peak to a higher figure to ensure that the best possible speed is attained? It seems unlike you to do this last run by halves .

Surely if you're going to engine dyno this spec, you can do this easily, so you can have one setting for top speed runs and one setting for normal use (if you're worried about loosing response)? Would take Mark no time to swap cams for such a special event .

I was under the impression (read it in PF) that running on to the straight and a normwal take off give about the same result. Its probably wrong in this case as its going for.... what? OVER 210.... jesus!!! Hope it does it too Rod, would be a monumental achievement!

I still say parachute

you have had an 'un-official' 216 havent you rod??

if not what is the highest speed you have had from it in brunters to date????

having seen it will do 206 in the wet,, gotta be 215 in the dry if the run
goes spot on and with the new better spec?

I see your point. Probably would make little or no difference I suppose.

Well, going from previous runs Rod has made, I'm going to guess that, weather permitting, he'll knock on the door or 215mph.

Rab, i could be wrong, it was in PF!

It could make the difference between 206 or 215 in this case, cos its so tight for space. tight for space at brunters? they land 747's there!! This'll be awesome.....

No an unofficial 210.4 in 1.41 miles is best to date.

Mike our only Dyno session saw peak Power @6.8k thats all I acurately have. You are correct Mark will change the cams for the next run to give us as much chance as possible of setting a fast time, cos we wont ne going back.

The start means nothong its whats available after the first mile. To put this into perspective in the wet Mark went through 150 in 25.7s this is a full 13s slower than it can do & the car still ran 200+.

Yes it would & I was going to fit one for Totb last year, however at the time I dont think they wanted to make it a presedent so it was not fitted. Ive no interest in fitting it now.
Im not sure what balls you have to have too brake later than we do. I did not stop shaking for 20mins after my 200 run.

i think your peak power is quite low cos Mark based your original build on a road engine did he not...

great to drive on the road but sacraifieses(sic) a bit top end...

you need to Mark to look at the engine so it makes peak power as high as poss...

we are looking to get my peak power at 7.5 k atleast...

should be easily poss as the last engine AVA did to my spec revved to 7.8k without a drop in power at all.

surely your engine chasing revs and peak power down brunters is what you need, not past peak power and running out of space...

Mark will have a solution Rod, im sure....

That is a possiblity, along with a parachute, but then you could come up with questioning the issues of the stability of the car when braking,
Would these methods be safe to use as IMO they are using trial and error methods as no-one has gone thjis far before with the same car,
You gotta remember that they wernt desinged to create such speeds in the 1st place.

The dics are as big as possible on my 17" & without body mods 18" wont go (Ive tried). We have AP 6-pots & DS3500 pads & the Special Heavy duty Disks. No they aint good enough but the best we can do.

Mark indeed has a solution see my reply to Mike.
I dont want to go too extreme cos its my road car & I want to drive it in record breaking Spec.

I would get that saff in a wind tunnel for some testing (you can rent themŁŁŁ) and make a few subtle body mods.

There isnt anywhere that you can run these speeds other than Brunters, Elvington or Woodbridge. 200mph would be possible on the road but id not risk it. No doubt 217.4 (the limiter) would be possible given a 2mile straight, but in isnt going to happen in the UK.
