Paul, as you already know about mine but here goes!!
First box i managed to snap the main shaft thru the gearbox, just where it enters the transfer box - this was from a stupid launch of the line - went well for the first 15ft then game was over!!
Second gearbox managed to limp me home, dropped into 3rd on the motorway whilst playing with a Bentley Continental GT, accelerated hard and next thing it all went crunch and 3rd gear disappeared - stripped clean of all its teeth!!

Not to much more thought as yet, been a day getting management sorted out via STU.
will probably stay on a standard gearbox for the time being, even tho its a limited life its got.
will start weighing up costs after Le mans in a few weeks.
Why not go the R & D six speed Dog box route?

Never had a problem on my current Fixit kit in 30,000 miles .
The Mk1 Fixit kit that was in the car when I first bought it (which was rated at 450bhp) pitted one tooth on the main shaft (made horrible clicking noise) after only a thousand or so miles of 450bhp. As the Mk1 version had been superceeded by the MkII high power version (therefore no spare parts available), I had the choice of either having a custom one made by Quaife of Dome at a cost of £1600 (and then running the risk of other parts of the gearbox failing and then needing to have further custom bits made AGAIN for more stupid amounts) or buy a Fixit MkII.
I'm so glad that I did the latter, as it has been a case of fit and forget . Although I'm not agressive on launching (only ever done a handful in the dry), the car is giving DEATH in the gears and has never been out of the car since fitting .
When the first gear and main shaft become available later this year, I'll get the box fully checked over and the bearings / syncro rings replaced as a matter of course .

Messing with an M3 (E46) on my old power / setup
3rd gear at 30 mph, foot to the floor, into 4th made the loadest crunch ever, though I defo didnt crunch it myself then when I lifted off, someone had obviously got under the car and was shaking various bags of spanners about
3rd gear exit stage left

so mike, is that price on a exchage basis from stock, or will we need to donate our box and the money and get the same one back, fully rebuilt & beefed up? how quick do you reckon you can turn them around if this is the case...? was there not a waiting list for the kits about 6 months ago, ?

Dave you realise thats just the price for rebuilding don't you mate. You have to buy the Fixit kit as well. And you will need a good standard first gear as well.
just would hate for you to give your Box to that underhand, lying, robbing snake Rainbird expecting a £700 bill and getting one for £3k+

Sorry, I mis-read the question, I thought the guy was asking how much to BUILD up the Fixit kit. The price on my website is for the gear-kit only (same as the Quaife price). The £7-800 is on TOP of that to have it built up into a customer supplied casing.
The new gearkit will have the full compliment of parts and so will not use the original first gear and main shaft (which will make the install cost cheaper - as that includes for those prices, but will be offset by an increase in the Fixit cost).
Regarding availability, at this stage deposits are only being taken, as the lead time is a "t.b.a." .

ah, i getya, so the full fixit kit need buying in the firstplace and then its another 7-8 ton to build it up with all new bits inside - that sounds fair, i was gonna say, that is cheap as for 600 you can only get a std recon box
to total price would be alaong the lines of 3K...? plus obviously a new clutch while we'rw at it, a new clutch cable and front diff strengthening plate at the same time,, 3.5K ? oh, i can feel the pain alrady
