Me and my mate are going to be going for our A1 Full bike licence in July... Got a couple of questions.....
I've riden a motorbike (Trials) most of my teen years so i know how to ride and operate a bike but my mate hasn't and doesn't feel comfortable with the gear changing..... Can he take lessons after his CBT ? Will most teaching companies hire/lend bikes for the lesson ?
Theory Test.... Is it like the car theory test ? Just need to refresh on the highway code etc etc ?
Practical Test.... Again, will the test centre provide bikes or hire them out ?
Good 1st bike ??
Any tips would be greatfully appreciated
Cheers

After the CBT (which you've got to be a total tit to fail) is when you start to learn how to ride, so yes there is plenty of training.
Theory - never did one as passed years ago.
Practical - that'll be included in your test price (I assume you're doing an intensive course of some kind ?) If not there will be a small charge for the hire of the bike for the test.

u can use the test centres bikes for the practical, theroy is similar to the car one, best way to get used to gearing is just find a quiet car park and practise, a vfr 400 is a good first bike not too powerful and easy to handle
ohh and make a will another biker died near me the weekend

Do the DAS mate after an hour on the bike you feel totally comfortable
I did mine in 2000 ,3day course me and another lad did it together except he did the restricted licence as he only wanted to ride a vespa

Best do the theory test 1st then.....
A local bike shop (P&H Motorcycles) do a 3 day DAS for Ł498 (or 5 day for Ł699) which includes bike hire, CBT and practical test

No matter how many trials bike ypuve had you will need to do some training before ypur test. The test is all about slow control into hazards etc....
IF youve ridden before then i reckon the 3 day course will suit ya!
Get ya cbt and theory booked now as they take a while to come thru in the summer!

I would say a Jap 600cc 4 cyl best for a first bike.
Smooth power, nice and nippy, without being silly fast.
Anything less and you will grow out of it too fast and have the aggro of selling and buying again
I went the Ducati route, against all advise!
My mate bought an GSXR 1000 for his first bike, I think he is still alive!
