Too many posts.. I need a life!!
I'd start with a MCDST
It's only 2 parts 70-270 , 70-271 which are also part of the MCSA.
Shouldn't take too long to do if you are focused.
Go onto amazon and do a search for "MCDST" for Ł25.00 you get the exam cram books for both parts.
Exams are about Ł200 all in.
There is also good documentation on the microsoft site.
After that the CCNA, A+, MCSA, MCSE, ITAL etc etc whatever you wan't to do.
Hope that helps

There is a few online courses you could try or an HNC via night class.
Or, you could try and get a IT helpdesk post and work yourself up. Those posts usually dont require much qualifications.

Rudey as you have no qualifications or IT background in a paid capacity, start with the A+ exam, its mainly a hardware based exam and Counts towards hours worked on the job, then perhaps the Network+ course whic gives you a basic understanding of Networking.
Only then look at the MCSE's CCNA, CCNP as these are hard exams and not many can bluff there way through these.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
I bought an A+ book the other day, I think that's enough for anyone as a first qualification, I think I will always be a Helpdesk monkey

Rudey, I just depends what field you want to go into: I would def start with the A+ as your base qualification, then go to Network+ for a base Network qualification.
Then you could maybe look at some of the MCP's such as 70-270 which is Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows XP Professional. Then by that point you can see what interests you and start to move into that field.
Personall I would go the network side of things and do the MCSE course and then on to Cisco qualifications. There is great money in Cisco.

I sort of work in Networking, Im working for BT installing infrastructure and Networked PC's, printers, scanners. The money is ok and the hours are not bad either.
I personally think you are better to go to a college or school to do some of the courses because its easier at times to have somebody explain it.
You can do courses online direct with Comptia who provide the A+ and Network+ and various other courses. Microsoft deal directly to.

20K+ Super Poster.
gys, why are you suggesting MCSEs straight off, thats hardly at the right level now is it!
deffo start with MCDST (sp?), it s a nice easy exam and lets people know you know the basics.
then after you get a job with that qualification, look at doing your MCSA so you can get out of the callcentre and into something secondline.
then if you want to do it as a career, buy yourself some glasses, watch the startrek collectors DVD and look into MCSE, MCPs etc. etc.

I find one of the most useful things I have learned is the following line- "Have you tried switching it off and back on again?"

Is the MCDST a Microsoft course ie an internatinally reconned (spelling?) course? What about them A+ course?
Applied for a support job but they gave it to the girl im sitting next to at work, and I have to help her out quite a bit so I either need some courses to prove I know things or get boobs the same size as her.

mate the a+ is reconised internationally and i would think the mcdst from reading through the sites i have today it does look like a very good course to do and as said can be done from home the minimum time it can be completed is two and a half months, with the maximum time alowed at one year
