Default anyone got hd tv??

who's got it and what do you think,is it worth paying the £300 for sky box and extra £10 for hd subscription.......i've read that the best piccie quality will be 1080i.....but most tv's at the moment have resolution 1366x768...anyone read up on it.

I've looked into it loads.

HD resolution are either 720p or 1080i.

P = progressive
i = interlaced.

Obviously 1080 is higher resolution but a progressive picture is better than interlaced especially for fast action scenes or camera movement like in sport.

I can explain what progressive and interlaced is if you need?

most HD tvs out at the moment are only capable of 720p, anything higher has to be scaled down to fit the 720p screen.

The big question is what are the broadcasters gonna be broadcasting in 720p or 1080i.

Also just to make things even more complicated, there are now 1080p tvs out which basically makes 720p an entry level HDTV. But the same applies, until broadcasters start broadcasting in 1080p there's no point having a 1080p tv because everything has to be upscaled.

Ive got 1.

No its not worth paying the Sky fee's as you can get them elsewhere cheaper.
As ever, diffrent broadcaster will be using diffrent formats just to screw us mere wage payers even more.
