Default OMFG New ride @ Thorpe Park

Went thorpe park today. I went on that new ride.

260 feet high, 0 - 80MPH in 2.62 seconds. Absolutely fucking incredible, i had to ride it over and over!

The g force Amazing, like being in a fast car....but really fookin fast like. If that's how an F1 car feels, then i understand why people drive them

Highly recommend.

I presume R.I.T.A @ Alton Towers is the same as this one, that does 0-80 launches in the same time

Ours are restricted for safety. You look at USA's safty record for theme parks.....shocking compared to ours.....but maybe thats something to do with them being american

LOL. I found a site a while ago which lists practically EVERY theme park ride in the world and a full review of it. In addition to this, it includes a log of any accidents that have happened, from the most minor to the very serious.

One example was a roller coaster, can't remember where, but some poor guy was trapped in it, the restraint wouldn't release him and the coaster carried on into the service area, but the framework of the ride wasn't designed to carry a person into that part and had low overhead bars, so crushed him.

Quite a fascinating wesbite though.

'Rita - Queen of speed' is a completely different ride to the Thorpe Park one. I imagine the Thorpe Park one, 'Stealth', will be more intense. But both of these rides are nothing compared to 'Kingda Ka' and 'Top Fuel Dragster' in America. Also, they have some unreal rides in Las Vegas on the top of the Stratosphere skyscraper, such as Roller coasters that go over the side etc.

They are the same ride built by the same people I believe. Stealth has a different track layout after the launch though because they can get the planning permission.

For those with a morbid fascination

The manufacturer in both cases is 'Intamin' who are one of the worlds largest manufacturers of Coasters and the same people AFAIK who make the big ones in the USA. Stealth is FAR higher than Rita, which has no real height and is more of just a fast launch. Don't get me wrong, Rita is very good, but I still rate Nemesis higher!

Also, that sight is dead interesting, I was looking at it earlier. Not the one I found before, but still quite an interesting read.

Nemesis is the daddy.

Alton Towers are limited by their tree line sadly, hence why they have to dig down.

Yes, the local residents are playing havoc, apparently there is a house very close to the entrance and the people who live there have been there since before the park was built, therefore have strong weight against what happens?

They have had plans in the pipeline for YEARS for an awesome wooden roller coaster, but cannot proceed with it.

Shame really as world class rides are now reaching heights the they won't be able to follow due to their restrictions. Kingda Ka is over 400ft high!!!

Yeah, the couple who keep giving them hassel are the Ropers.

As far as I know the woody will go ahead eventually.

I used to know bits and bobs about what was going on as I built the RideRita website and used to maintain the main AltonTowers site when I was freelancing.
