Techy DV answer need re RS Turbo's
1. I've been told in the past that a DV can cause overspeeding of the turbo which is damaging. Can anybody explain why and how?
2. Why do you not need one on an RS Turbo (Fiesta and Escort)
Proper answers needed please and not pub BS

1. overspeeding? My guess would be that a dumpvalve can potentially cause air leaks while on boost which means the turbo has to work harder to maintain boost pressure.
2. The idea of a dumpvalve is that it prevents the air from slowing down the turbo blades when you close the throttle. Its thought that this counterforce can cause turbo blades to shatter. However RS turbos are not considered to be running enough boost pressure or a big enough turbo for this to happen.
