Really surprised at the TG track times being so close, and thats for std cars. Mine isn't.

But, i'm as surprised as the BM driver probably is. Maybe he left it in 6th or whatever, should have put it in 4th/5th instead of trying to be a smart arse against the "ickle Ford"
Maybe BM drivers need to be wary of blue shopping cars...

I would happily race you for log books on that one fella, even though my car is probably worth about 6 times what yours is, dont dare put XR`s in the same bracket as M3 `s, fuck me it is getting better one here every week, last week with the RST v M3 was bad enough but an XR this week fook off

LOL at the M3 owners . I didn't realise E46 M3s were THAT slow . My stage 1 Sapphire used to do 13.4s quarters - thats with me driving, not some professional driver told to give it everything to get a manufacturer's time .

E46 weight:
1549kg - Power 338bhp - power to weight = 218bhp per tonne. Torque: 269lb ft - torque to weight = 173lb ft per tonne.

Stage 1 2wd Cossie
1250kg - Power 270bhp - power to weight = 216bhp per tonne. Torque: 260ish - torque to weight = 208lb ft per tonne.

A stage 1 is equal in everything but kudos .

Given that a FRS is equal in weight and power if blue-finned to the above, I rest my case and have no problem believing plynch .

Why does everyone assume that the M3 would have easily pulled away?

A FRS of that spec is almost stage 3 cossie 2wd quick, and would keep nicely with the M3.

Anyway, where are all these crack pot bean tin piece of shit XRs keeping up with M3s.

Don't me giggle...........

pmsl at the people saying M3's aren't all that. They are fucking rapid end of

What the M3 owners need to realise is there are plenty of tuned Fords that aren't Cosworth powered that can piss on their chips

m3s are quick, but why some of the owners of them insist the slagging off of fords is the done thing on a ford site........

its like arguing for arguments sake. i.e a conservative going into the labour camp and saying labour are crap. not going to actually get anywhere with their opinions are they just get the backs up on the majority of people.

To put this argument to bed, your all comparing a Ford Focus RS to a bmw M3 ffs.

i personally dont like either cars but to compare a ford focus to an M3 is just silly imo. Ye the focus may be quicker but whats the better car, take off the ford blinkers lads and admit that the BM is a far superior car in every way.

O and i raced a few in my old cossie and some were shit and some were quick, i think it might be down to different boxes etc but not sure tbh

yeah, labour are crap lol.

i think if ever we are allowed to wear ford blinkers, passionford is the place.

everywhere we go we get the p*ss taken out of us for owning a 'rust bucket' 'crap' ford, then we log on here and get told it again.

m3s are better mechanically than a focus rs. but as for character of them both.........in my eyes and im guessing the majority of fords enthusiasts, tht focus has bucket loads more charm

But charm doesnt make a car good though unfortunatly does it, reliability, good fuel economy, and a well designed engine and chassie do.

Not saying the frs doesnt have any of the above but the fact is that MOST FRS drivers bought there cars because in there eyes it was the best they could afford, where as most m3 drivers bought there cars because there a fantastic car.

I'm not saying the frs is in any way shit but open your eyes theres more to a good car then straight line pace

Even if I had the cash for a new M3 I wouldn't have one. Give me the Audi S4 please. I could have an E36 M3 tomorrow if I wanted to. I choose to own my old Fords I don't have them as they are the best I can afford.

I understand that people do actually like there fords, what i was getting at was that MOST people with fords wont be driving around in series2's when there 40 years old and have plenty of cash i the bank, fook me i know i wont be, fords are good for the money but there are better cars out there for the same money, that is fact not my opinion.

I aint getting into this on a ford forum cause no one will have it lol. Lets put it this way how many posts have there been on here saying how shit ctr's are, then a lad posts a vid up of his nova valver sticking with 1 and not catching it, and his nova is rapid acording to loads of peeps on here, its comical sometimes.

For fooks sake i raced a stage1 2wd saph and didnt do bad against it yesterday, and series2 with chip, exhaust, filter and bigger intercooler and still managed to obliterate it in a poxy 1.8 non turbo.

alps - everything you say is actually true. but we are allowed to be pro ford on a ford forum regardless of them being better/worse than other cars. like minded people come on here as rightly or wrongly they feel they have bought the best car they can for the money.

its a known fact that german cars have better engineering and in nearly every way is a better car to the equivilent ford. but we should be allowed to talk crap and say how wonderful fords are.

the only car i change my s2 to would be a 3 door. not an m3, even the csl, or a amg merc etc. i prefer to drive the s2 instead of the m3....not that i've driven one, but they are common, not my style.

but as the saying goes, if we were all the same the world would be a boring place (its a saying now!!!!)

Alps- Mostly true what you're saying M3's are quality cars in ALL departments over engineered if anything but not the be all and end all. I'd personally never own one (CSL i would ) because firstly stupid as it sounds i can't drive a car then see 4 others go past me on one road, secondly there ARE better cars for the money.

We are blinkered and admittedly an FRS can't properly compare with an M3 (not E46 anyway) but they are very impressive cars.

Oh and CTR's are CRAP!

Alps Pacino

Totally accept that the M3 is a better built and engineered car than my FRS, thats not in question mate. Bit contradictory of you really Alps as I recall when i had a Boxster you did nothing but slate it, but that was/is a far better car than a BMW interms of engineering and chassis development. A 2.5 would absolutely blitz my FRS or a stg.1-3 Cossie on a twisty road.
And no, the FRS isn't all I could afford, but practicalities take over these days.

Well I sold my 2003 M3 in February this year, and bught a FRS. Had the FRS til last week and had to get rid, the gulf in class was amazing.

I don't just mean the power, I mean the refinement. Mine cost me £32k last year which is a lot of cash, but the harmon kardon hi fi, the sat nav, the tv, the bluetooth phone prep (which is incredible) the 343bhp, etc etc etc just seemed to make it all worth while.

Sorry guys, I know this is a Ford forum, but you really cannot compare the two cars.

By the way, I now own a Escort Cosworth!!

I love it when you get a cocky git who think there car is the fastest thing on the road, In my dads 1.8 TDCi i had a golf GTi mk5 up my arse and when i pulled over he shook his head and booted it so i booted it and he looked as if to say "I just got raped by a diesel "

It's because German horses are only 98.6% as strong as English ones.
PS is German for horsepower

Lets get something straight here, I didn't post this to start of a gay fight about whats better, the M3 or FRS. I know which i'd rather own, and it's not the Focus. I don't need lecturing on quality etc, i've come from owning a Porsche "down" to the Focus, as some people would view it, and the Porsche is light years ahead of the FRS in terms of build and engineering, no comparison, yet both very similar in the "fun" department, which means a lot to me for an everyday car. The FRS is a damn sight quicker mind.

I posted this to share what I thought was a very amusing experience, nothing else.

Quick Reply: Had to laugh! my FRS vs. M3.
