Default Urgent Help needed!!!!!! Need a fix in the next 6hrs

Right they say a picture tells a thousand words, so.............

Just dropped all the girls off for their charity walk - https://passionford.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=196725 (blantent plug!) Managed to get in & out of London no prob's, but on the way up the A1 the temp needle decides to jump through the roof!

So pull over to check everything under the hood, all fine.... Not a drop of water lost. All the pipes are how they should be, plenty of heat coming out of the vents etc......... So i'm fooked.

Phoned Mike R (thanks as ever Mike!) and we think the temp gauge is fooked?????

So where does it get the feed from? Also any idea's??

PLEASE HELP I'VE GOT TO GET BACK INTO LONDON AT 3AM

Cheers all!

PS PASSIONFORD TEST!

As above Franco and for reference it should be white with a brown trace and it runs in your engine management loom to the back of your clocks

all depends on the head you have ... some are on the l/h side near the front .. most are a bitch to get to under the inlet manifold tho

and yes the sensor can die ..

to find the one under the inlet manifold ... follow the dip stick pipe down .. as it sits behind that just under the inlet manifold

the other one is right at the front of the head on the l/h side (turbo) easy to find..

Gotta be a gauge or sender fault, it would be showing some obvious signs if it was REALLY that hot.

Just ignore it for now, keep the heater on in the car, and providing it stays blowing hot, you know the engine still has its water system working properly.

Thats what Mike said....

Only smallish problem, the interior heater gave up a few months ago!

Still piping hot though!

Right think i found it......

feels (as you cant see shite! ) like an upright cylinder with two stalks sitting out of the top of it, all the wires feel fine, had a good fiddle etc checked the gauge = still fooked.

Done that another 2-3 times, checked it again & now the gauge is fine!

Yeah deffo, thought the missus was going to have to get a train back after a 26ml walk for charity, she wouldn't have been pleased!

Thing is they didn't feel loose etc.

Is my description accurate?!?!

I think from what i can feel it is the water temp gauge sender......seems to feel like a Fiesta RS one.

Fingers crossed, they'll be no traffic through London at 3am anyway!
