Does any one else have one?

Time has come to get more memory added to this peice of poo, and i also need a floppy disc drive.

Just wondering has anyone got a Dell and put non dell components in it?
Looked on the website, an some of the prices are ridiculous (but i am tight )

Ive just spent £150 upgrading mine

 

33.3 GB (14 GB left) on C Drive

256MB Ram

Its the RAM you need, C drive isnt important and 256MB RAM is terrible!

I only spent £150 on RAM because i wanted one of the best makes around, i bought 2x Corsair platinum 1GB sticks

Do you know if the memory that in is DDR? and how old is the machine?

 

256mb is pony going by todays standards!

Get yourself a 512mb stick and you will notice the world of difference and no it doesnt really matter that the componant isnt dell

As said though it would help alot if you tell us the exact machine and what type of ram i.e DDR

 

take it in to a local independant computer shop and get them to quote some part numbers/specs at you, that will give you some generic specs .

then go to www.scan.co.uk and save a fortune

Its a Dell Dimeson 3000 desktop (2 years old in Sep 06)

Its a celeron.. need i say more

if you go to Dell's website and put in your machines serial number, it should come back with all its build information and supplied spec.

print it off for future reference (ie take the printout to a PC shop when asking for a memory upgrade)

 

Just did that, what i posted above is what it said.

I got the dreaded blue screen yesterday when i started this thing up yesterday *kicks it* did a system restore so hopefully its ok.. It cant die on me now

 

sounds like the ram you have might be knackered anyway. get it replaced with a 512mb stick of RAM, 1gb if you can afford it

 

Nothing wrong with celerons if your not into playing top computer games.

Mines a 2.6 celeron, got 1gb of ram though and its lightening at everything, never freezes/crashes on me either
