Default 5 year bill

Alrite peeps i had a post up a couple of weeks back about a mechanic sending me a bill from 5 years ago .eny ways he rang me last night ranting down the phone if i didnt pay him he was gona take further action ie court at the end of the day the bill he sent me was from 5 years ago ive never even seen him in five years and then i get a bill for about 150. should i just tell him to fuck off or as he got grounds to go to court eny help would be good cheers.

remember the thread, 5 years is along time and i can't see him taking you to court over £150 5 years down the line... you could ignore it and probably just leave you alone after a while! but then again you do owe him the money! question of whetha you'd feel right not to pay him.

As Damo said, it won't happen, it will cost him more than £150 to take you to court anyway, so he'll be doing himself out of more money.

to be fair if the guy has done you a job and you owe him for it then you shud really pay him as a matter of good faith

that would be my reconing so long as your happy with what the guy did. why didnt you pay him at the time??

if he does take u to court just tell the magistrates u paid him in cash 5 yrs ago!!! thatll do the trick everything will get confusing and will be chucked outta court...

I cant realy remember at the time he just didnt send me a bill or get in contact 5 years down the line well 5 and a half i think i get a bill i havent owned the car he did work on for at least 4 years ago i think ill just let the fooker take me to court i thought ther was a time limit though to send some one a bill

Don't think it will, small claims court is about £70/£80 IIRC, plus if he wins the 'loser' of the case has to pay the costs aswell as the £150!

5 years is a long time though! Let it take it's course mate...

At the time i remember asking him for a bill then a couple of weeks later still no bill so i rang him and he said he was gona sort it out thats the last thing i heard all the work that ive had done on all my cars ive always paid straigh away but he never sent me a bill so im just not keen on paying

let him try.......he shouldnt have let you take car away without paying, so think he`s onto plums.......i had the same problem once....i just told the garage i had paid it, over and over again.....til they left me alone....not worth the hassle of small claims.....

£30 last time I had to do it, did the trick though, got interest too

is there not like a law were people have so long to recover debt from u say like u had a credit card owed £2k an im sure after 5/6yrs the debt is obolished (mmm spellin)
